Stick them in jail , then make them eat abalone for breaky ,lunch and dinner . For the duration of their stay . Those creatures taste horrible anyway!!!

Or if abalone is considered an afrodesiac ( I have no idea how to spell afrodesiac sorry )
Put them in the same jail cell as Big Bubber , and give him the abalone !

Hmmm wonder what fine/penalty they will get. My folks live down SW WA and my old man regularly dives for abs. Got busted unkowingly one year as they changed the fishing zone boundaries. The old man took it on the chin and copped a $300 fine. Then he had to watch a group of non english speaking reef rapists with way over bag limits get let off because there was no warning sign in their language....the old bloke had steam coming out of him for days after that one.

In South Africa in the 70's they had really draconian laws to deter poaching, both in the sea and on land. National parks could and did have the right to confiscate all possessions involved in the crime. In this instance they would have had their boat, car and trailer confiscated and would also have had to pay a massive fine.

It worked.

Dazza, my sympathy to your old man in regard to the non English speakers. That is pure bull****. The magistrate should be ashamed of himself.
