mmmm, I'd just like to take this moment to personally thank the baby lord jesus christ for saving my soul and protecting my freedoms from those awful awful weapons of mass destruction and the villanous criminal mastermind obama, er, i mean osama bin laden.
I took the 5 minutes to read the source pdf file that they listed.
1) This is talking about the 1991-1992 Gulf War
2) 17,500 troops who were deployed to that war, have since died. It doesn't mention what they died of or where, it could have been in a car accident in 2003.
3) 53,000 troops who were in the armed forces at the time, but were NEVER deployed to the war have since died of various causes.
Why the linked website added these figures together and said that this was the casualty total from the war is beyond me. Part of the source report actually goes into detail about how the death rate amongst 'never deployed' veterans is about the same as deployed veterans.
Now I'm not saying the report is wrong, or the original website is wrong, but the linked website is definitely misreading its sources and claiming facts which don't exist.
