My kids are both Skate board mad and have made suggestions for Xmas would each like a drop deck down hill board. Problem is that i have found they tend to be very big, heavy and honestly don't think my kids are going to get any benefit from that style of Skateboard. I think its just a fad thing really.
My son is 8 and he already has a Tony hawk flip deck, Element, a Small Sector cruiser, a Fish Globe cruiser and a Slater fiberglass flexi deck that he scammed of me, My daughter who is 11 has a mid range cruiser and honestly that's about the level of her ability.
They both like to bomb the big Skate park in Albany (the original hill one) and they like street cruising but nothing too steep.
So i'm looking for a few more ideas

I've been looking at the all terrain style of board, for like grassy hills that type of thing? Any ideas on weather they are good, bad or indifferent? Would they suit a say 8 year old grom

Or maybe even the boards i saw once that are a bit more of a gimmick. I saw a board once that had standard trucks on rear but a single wheel on the front to simulate more surfing style

Any ideas would be great. I tend to buy a few boards from Boardshop in QLD but they don't really have anything so anywhere else people could suggest would also be appreciated
