Was cooking dinner for the kids and hadn't managed to change channels when ACA came on. I could feel myself getting dumber as it went on, But they had this awesome hidden camera footage of a carpet cleaner who, when left alone in the house, went straight to the dirty clothes hamper and started sniffing panties. Then he went to another bedroom and sniffed those panties, then he went to the bathroom and sniffed the towels. Then he went to the living room, fired up the computer, hooked up the net (had to connect ethernet cable) and then proceeded to wack off three times!!!. He only stopped because something spooked him! All just hidden by a bit of pixellation.

Oh and then he cleaned the carpet.

Imagine being in the police station getting that played back to you!!(he got charged) and his family members/ co workers etc that knew he got done or might recognise him saw that footage!!
Last time I ever sniff panties at a strangers house!

So, they're saying that it's now wrong...or (worse) illegal?

I might have to review my standard on-site actions for future reference.

I knew a guy in the 80's who had a carpet cleaning business. He was a blonde, surfy looking guy.

He would go round to the houses, give the housewife a good serve, give their carpets a bit of a clean, and maybe charge them a little bit of money.

The business was really a way of laundering his dope dealing money.

Unfortunately, these are extreme cases and those shows put distrust amongst client-tradey relationships. Just another reason why not to be self-employed.

In saying that, I used to have an employee that wandered through a couple of houses on his first few jobs whilst we were installing joinery. Although he was harmless, he would casually wander into areas that weren't part of our scope say things like "I like the lounge-suite". I brought him back into line a couple of times before telling him that I can't trust him on-site and he would lose his job. He ended up realising that we were there to do the job and he never wandered again (that I know of).

I was also involved in a small 'sting' operation (set up by the employer) to see if his apprentice was stealing (sad really). The client was made aware & involved and the kid got caught. Money was left on a side-table in a bedroom with the door shut (no need for anyone to enter this room), the kid was caught on camera.

I havent seen a "current affairs" program for at least 15 years, yet managed to catch that footage whisl surfing the channels looking for something for the kids to watch. I only saw the first minute, but you could just tell what would happen.
.
the closest I can think of in our area was 10year ago when a local mowing man was mowing a policemans lawn and got busted "playing " with his dogonce it made the local paper, none of the lawnmowing men in town would get left to do a job without a person present, for months

It's ok.

If you watch closely, ACA acknowledge that the footage is from New Zealand.

I can't believe how fast everyone jumps to conclusions.
From what i saw he was probably a professional who took his job very seriously. He obviously got a wiff of something a bit "off" and since he was there to do a good cleaning job, he thought he should try and find out what it was.
Well the obvious first place to look would be the undies drawer,?? maybe a damp towel,?? maybe in the dirty laundry?? Yes? maybe these,..?? sniff sniff.. I better check the internet to look for a bit more info on the problem.
Now that's dedication.
Oh, and I bet she had a dog which would explain why his pants suddenly got so itchy and needed rubbing when he kneeled on the carpet. Carpets are a haven for dog flees you know and they can run up you leg pretty quick.
I really can't see what all the fuss is about.

Oh,.. and

The media goes round sound in circles public bashing tradies, doctors, politicians... it comes up every couple of years,
everyone gets there turn,
Except the media of course, they conveniently forget to tell us about how they over dramatise every news story and don't divulge all the nasties they get up to make a story.
Bit of a shame really.
Media has a lot to answer for in this country, and most of it is not good.

Media Watch shows a little of what your talking about. The subjects don't like being mentioned there.

I had a lot of different teams under me doing alot of a/c cleaning. This was mainly shopping center's, apartment blocks and high rises.
90% of guys would always try and nick anything. They did not care about the camera's everywhere or being told you will get sacked if caught. Most of them found it to be a joke.
I could not count the amount of times I told them to stop looking in drawers at office buildings or filling there pockets with pens. Management cared but not enough to do anything as the next bloke could be worse.
Disgusting pigs the majority, and this is when they where watched and warned. Apparently it's everyone else's fault because they had money and could afford to replace it, was the most common feedback.

Funniest thing was a guy stole and scoffed down 15 bottles of vanilla ess because it had alcohol in it. Stupid sxxt was crook for a week then got the sack for being off work.
