Guys,

can any of you recommend an air conditioner company that is reliable and doesn't rip you off?

And any comments on which type of air con is better, i.e. reverse versus split versus evaporative?

thanks

I have evaporative for cooling and gas ducted air for heating

We are on the coast and use the evaporative MAX one month a year.
we often just use it on fan just to air the house.

we used Airconditioning city Mandurah. They were OK, not brilliant. They made a mess and dint clear up, and I had to have them back a few time to get the job done right.

Evaporative
Good.
God for allergy sufferers and cheap as chips. You don't even notice the running cost.
It draws in 'fresh' air from the outside and makes the house feel nice and 'airy'.
Bad.
Doesn't work on humid days and can make your bed and furniture feel a bit damp if you crank it up.
When you use it you have to have a window or door open.

Our can knock off about 6 to 10 deg of temp. i.e 30c to about 24c, 38c to around 28c

Gas heating.
Good
Warms the house really fast
Costs $300 per quarter in the really cold months
Heats all the rooms.
No ugly outside compressor like a reverse cycle.

Bad
Can't think of any.
