I got my custom sent over for $180 by road but there are cheaper deals out there. Mine had no dammage at all so I guess the price was good.

Rod I had quotes from normal freight companies at around the $90 - $120 mark from same area to here.

Damage though - who knows

I've used bus freight successfully several times in the past...

Fkme for $280 you can go to the GC pick it up surf it and fly home, check out TIGER JETSTAR VIRGIN but factor in their board prices and policys

After working in road and rail transport for a while, I would be extremely nervous abut receiving anything. Nobody gives a crap and it's luck of the draw whether you get a forklift Tyne thru your board or not. (I have got one board and it was damaged). Whatever you do get insurance and go over it with a fine tooth comb before you sign off on it. Chrispycru mentioned a surfboard transport company, maybe pm him and try them?

Not arguing, but I've had over 10 items (masts, boards, sails) freighted over the years - only one damaged...squashed tip of mast - I called the shop, but as it was a 2nd-hand purchase, they didn't get back to me. I just bit the bullet & have since repaired it.

I guess you take your chance and if not using insurance, take the gamble. Still try to minimise the risk by using a reputable company.

Your best option (price-wise) is if you know someone with a shop - they will probably have an account that they 'might' let you use 'at-cost'...and remember - a slab of Coopers goes a long way!

maybe if you had saved that 45 bucks you spent when you donated to kony you would be ok. Additionally didn't you win a sup on seabreeze a while back for that comp that was running? Also your boat business should be able to write off postage/freight charges no problemo.

For Christ sake is the difference between road and air really gonna hurt you that much? It will mean the difference between a board that is useable and one that looks like Swiss cheese. Get real if you want it here safely. Or next time buy local.

Does Air freight really make any difference? I figure it's the handling along the way that matters.

I've road freighted three boards over to WA from the east - haven't had any problems.
