I know it doesn't help you, but why do you need to buy one in Caringbah?

I live near there, and have been looking at trailers. What are their trailers like?

No manufacturers make light/medium duty around here!

I'm looking for a light trailer for a holiday / windsurf transport.

The caringbah based trailers on ebay look to be a well priced unit.
Nice tie down points and comes registered.
Not sure on Quality, but for the money, 5 - 10 years life would be enough!

Wanting it ready by Xmas holidays, for a trip to the coast with my full kit for once.

I don't know why anyone would red thumb this... maybe they got confused and thought it was the northern beaches?

Do you have a URL (again, not helping you, but interesting none-the-less).

^^^^ Seems a reasonable price for a brand new trailer with rego.

Only question is how good is the paint/rust protection system?

Here you go, this is the one i'm looking at, probably others out there, but this one suits me. What have you seen around this price? Any ideas on making this a good holiday hauler are welcome.

I live very much inland so the trailer wouldn't get much exposure to coastal conditions. Holidays mainly.
This is the only one I could find, in this price range, that comes with new wheels and tyres and 12 months registration.
The sides are a bit deeper than other cheapies as well.
Melbourne would be great, but nothing else i've seen on ebay/trading post stacks up.

I went and took a look at the trailer place, as I don't live that far away. They seem okay. They look like they build a lot of trailers.

I asked for other sizes, and he quoted $675 for the 6x4, $775 for a 7x4, and $875 for a 8x4. I also asked if you could leave the front open, and he said that they can have a front tailgate for an extra $60.

I figure it would be good to be able to fit most boards inside, but some boards I have are too long for even a 8x4. I should have asked about a 9x4...

I also asked about the stud pattern, and they can do commodore or ford stud patterns. This matters to me, as I think its better to match them to the towing car, if you have a commodore or falcon.

In follow up to looking at the trailers themselves, I would go for a longer version, if you want to be able to fit the boards in. I guess it adds more cost, but you would probably be better off getting that from the start.

In Dec 2011 I had a custom 6 x 4 made by Australian trailers in Mordialloc for around $1k with the following:

Extended drawbar (easier towing but now have to register, but $40 P/A in Vic is great)
Spare tyre mounted on drawbar
removable 3 bike rails c/w with all fittings and proper tie down points front and rear.
deeper sides
LED lights
Swinging jockey wheel
Jerry can holder
Front and rear 'tailgates'
750kg rating

It was so good I gave a bottle of bundy to the guy that built it.

Why would anybody want to drive to Melbourne ?
Surely the 12 hour drive would be punishing enough ?

I would only give a bottle of Bundy Rum to my worst enemy and I live in the town where they make the crap.

Mount Gay Genuine Eclipse Barbados Rum. Same price and far superior quality.

The best rums in the world are made in the Carribean. Appleton Reserve is one of the finer but the best I have had is Old Oak made by Angostura (you know. They are the guys that make Bitters in the little white paper covered bottle.), often imitated but never duplicated.

The favoured rum drink during Antigua Race Week and the rest of the year in the Caribbean is called the "Caipurinia".

It consists of a teaspoon of raw sugar with a half a lime crushed into it with a wooden stick, two ice cubes, a double measure of rum to which can be added your choice of water, soda or Indian Tonic water.

Follow that recipe and drink it and you will never pollute a decent rum with cola ever again.

If he is happy, who is to say nay. Each to their own.

Try a Caipurinia. It may change your taste or opinion on rum.

Just chattin' in the chat room.
