It's about time that the 'cycle of skill' takes the Poms up a notch in the cricket world and the Aussies down a couple.

It was so funny to hear the commentators rabble on about how the pitch changed so much after lunch on the first day and the Aussies struggled because of the condition of the pitch.

What do they blame the second innings failure on

I am enjoying seeing a competitive opposition for once. Andy Flowers is proving to be a good tactition.

No excuses Ricky. The Poms are playing better than your boys.

If i hear Neil Bennett ( wa abc weather presenter) make another (sly throwen in ) wise crack about the cricket during the weather ill ban him to ......in fact .......ban poms opinions right or wrong and stay clear of mandurah its like a mosquito breeding ground for pomies.... is it the equivilant to a detention centre or something or should we put a fence around it.

The weather will never be the same now he has come out of the cricket closet as part of the barmy army

So the Aussie crew threw the game?

Is that like the pitch suddenly changed when the Poms got to bat?

No the Poms threw the game in Perth(my theory anyway) if they had won the boxing day test would have been a non event and CA would have made a loss,
it has happen in the past with other sides and there is no reason to suggest that it isn't happening here $ talk!

Is cricket that thing where they dress like lawn bowls players, and something exciting happens every half hour or so?

You must be thinking of some other game. Nothing much happens in cricket over a week and if it does its not particularly exciting.

maybe its another conspiracy theory but if the Paki's had thrown in a first innings like the aussies pretty sure there would be some raised eyebrows and newspaper headlines.[}:)]

aussies need to stop sledging and talking themselves up all the time. It's not the australian way.
All of these pretty boys get a profile and a few tough stickers and lose the plot (johonson, clarke) and ponting is a little grub with short man's syndrome - just look at the way he used to act when he drank.

i dunno, sledging is definitley part and parcel of the australian cricket way. it's just that in the past the players could actually back it up with skill. look at steve waugh. best cricketer australia has ever produced and the master of the sledge.

i heard on the radio today that the problem with australian cricket is that the selectors sacked all of the drinkers. coincidence [}:)]

ponting has been dropped. pity clarke and johnson weren't dropped as well i think.

Watching McGrath sledging a mild mannered Sri lankan batsman a few years ago was the last time I watched cricket It was ugly sick stuff and the rest of the team thought it was great Sport it was not

i guess it depends how it's done hiko, there's poor sportmanship and then there's tactical banter.

like for eg. commenting on a kiwi batsmans velcro boots would be tactical banter.

i guess they're out there for so long and mental toughness is so much part of the game. Just seems inconsistent with the other more sportsmanly aspects of the game, like walking etc.

I'd like to see a few of the poor performers return to form in state cricket.

agree myusername.

off to state cricket. i'm not sure what measure the selectors use but it's odd when you have someone like hauritz getting centuries with the bat and 4 fors wiht the ball and still not getting a run.

A lady walked into a Police Station and the desk Sergeant

said "Can I help you?"

"Yes" she said, "I'd like to report a case of sexual assault".

"Where did it happen?" the Sergeant asked.

"In the park just down the road" she replied.

"Can you describe what happened?"

"Yes, I was walking along the footpath in the park near the

trees when a man jumped out of the bushes and dragged me in there, removed my

underwear then he dropped his pants to his knees and had his way with me".

"Could you give me a description of him?"

"Yes, he was wearing white shoes, long white trousers, a

white shirt and he had these two big long pads from his feet up to and over

his knees, one on each leg".

"Sounds to me like he was a cricketer, most probably a

batsman", said the Sergeant.

"Yes", said the lady, "He was an Aussie cricketer".

"That's very observant", said the Sergeant, "You worked

that out from his accent?"

"No", she replied. "I worked it out because he wasn't in

for very long".

You have to let them have one once in a while, otherwise there would be no fun in beating them.

I was exposed to the barmy army a while back at the SCG. I have to admit that their ability to entertain far surpasses any aussie efforts, and south african as well.

I got hooked on cricket for two or three seasons starting in England during the Botham Lillee era listening on BBC radio.

Those chappies live in another world, what!
