I've broken the DC input jack on my laptop, again.
Last time I had it fixed it cost about $200, and the f-wits managed to return it with 3 out of 4 USB sockets and the microphone not working. The whole thing's worth <$200 now so I'm not doing it again.
It works fine off the battery, I just need to devise a way to get charge into the battery. I just want to run it for a battery's worth one last time to access some files.
Does anyone have an old one of these PC's (or similar) around that I could use as a charger?
Anyone got any other MacGyver-style ideas of how to get some juice into the battery?
Bloody frustrating!!
Thanks.

Take cover off
Pull the hard drive out
Go to Harvey Norman
Buy a portable hard drive case
Plug drive into case
Plug case into another computer
Download files onto ..... another portable hard drive
wait, ignore the last step as you have already got the files off and onto a storage device.
To make it more exciting on the trip to Harvey Norman dress in a black suit, steal a motorcycle, ride the wrong way down the road, pretend you are being chased by Ukrainian hitmen, jump into a boat through a firey hoop, head off to the casino and pull a bikini-cald Jamacian beauty.
(don't forget though don't spend all your money at the casino as you will still need to take $20 cash to Harvey Norman as their EFTPOS machine doesn't accept licenses to kill)
