Sounds great, the more tax the big bludgers pay, the less tax I pay.
It's a 'clean up the mess' tax for the top 500 polluters.

Those that can't, because they are up against cheaper imports which don't have a carbon tax, will just go broke and shut up shop, after giving all their workers the good news that their job no longer exists.
The same products then made overseas will probably generate more pollution because they don't have the same environmental controls that we have here.
I'm finding it hard to see the plus side in all this.
If all this was being done by a government with a history of always getting things right I would be less apprehensive. But from this mob who can't even arrange pink bats in a ceiling or can't propose any better solution to animal abuse than to shut the whole industry down without notice, I would have to say that I'm not filled with confidence that this will be anything other than another giant shooting of ones own foot.
And in this case it's your foot and my foot because those wasters will make sure that they will be adequately compensated for whatever it costs.
