It's all metal and petrol - we're a 1-string banjo.
Prices fall - and China dictates - and we're toast.
No manufactured goods.
It's all imported stuff now, nothing manufactured locally anymore.
At $17/hr + super, all those jobs were going to be unsustainable...
An old timer local metal shop (I go there for boat repairs) was telling me he's closing for good:
all the young kids want $40/hr right away, nobody wants to work hard, and some shops now send even small jobs to China - no need for local tools anymore. wow, makes no sense to me, but got to believe him.
Look at China/exports - all manufactured goods.
Australia was the lucky country before a couple of Asian giants got their act together.
The coming generations are in for an interesting time...
