Sorry........ I've been away land sailing at Lake Lefroy.

Lots of places to kite and stay. Make sure you ring ahead for accommodation though. It's peak time at school holidays. The town is overflowing when I was there today.

Local beaches are pretty good access in a car. But I wouldn't drive on them.

The Duke of New Orleans caravan park 60kms east of the town may be worth a ring. They are usually booked out many months before holidays though.

National park campsites would be at a premium.
The shire rangers are really strict here and check most local haunts of an evening as well.

We are just starting to get our summer patterns of NE in the morning and a SE sea breeze in the arvo.

Cheers.

Agree with Chook. Lots if national park campsites east of Esperence with good access and varying beach angles to suit different winds. Great place for the family to relax too.

There are lots, but they are almost always full, unless it's the middle of winter and blowing a gale.
Don't just rock up and expect to get a campsite. Specially in summer.

Actually, campsites in WA national parks are in severe under supply. The national park east of esperance is no exception.

There are so many places where you drive all day to get there only to be told there are no sites left,.. all six are occupied. ??
Considering the thousands of square kilometers we have here in WA, it's unbelievable that all they can manage is such a small number of sites.

I agree that all can't expect to have thebest sire on edge of the beach, or river or whatever, but surely they could set up overflow campsites a kilometer or so from the best sites, so you don't need to drive a hundred kilometers to the next town or whatever.

If they want to encourage australans to holiday in their own country, then do something to make them feel welcome.
Don't put in place all sorts of regulations and restrictions so every trip is a seieas of conflicts with bureaucracy.

If they need an example of how it should be, try Tasmania, or Norway if they want to look further.

Or NZ where it is legal to camp along the banks of any river as it is Crown Land, they also have a lot of empty the porti pota stations for you to use. Did a road trip in a hired camper van and was the best trip ever!

I hope that wasn't you Davidk?

That would be almost as bad as a run in with the park rangers.

GWN News are now saying he may be flown from Esperance to Perth, though FlightTracker shows an RFDS plane not far out of Esperance already. They don't move that quick unless it's pretty bad.

Yeh totally agree pweedus.

It happened at "Kelp beds" about half way to Cape Le Grande along Wylie bay.

My heart goes out to him and his family.

Esperance hospital doesn't have the ability to deal with such serious injuries, so airlifted to Perth.
