It will be interesting to see if the rumored cryptic messages in the episodes regarding Paul mccartnies apparent death and subsequent cover up in 1966 (and hence their disappearance ) are true
I don' t enjoy watching old Dr Who episodes. Dr Who was quite scary to watch as a kid. However the special effects now are quite laughable. On rhe other hand the stories from the older shows were pretty good, especially as they spanned a few episodes.
The plant monster episodes as well as the ones where the Egyptian god coming from Mars to Earth to kill everyone are the ones I'm thinking of. Two scenes I remember reasonably well are the one where the bloke gets thrown into the big grinder and the other one where the god starts travelling to Earth on his pathway without his mask on. They were really scary when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Dr Who was on at around 6pm weekdays on the ABC. However when watching them again the effects are quite low tech. Amazing how our perception changes with technology over time.

6pm was The Goodies, 6.30pm was Dr Who - most memorable regular 60mins of my childhood.....
Thats right. Also before 6pm there was a cartoon, something like G-Force, Battle of the Planets or Star Blazers. Both were pretty cool. Also we had Basil Brush and another show that used models to show battles and stuff from history.
Two hours of great after school TV on the ABC. The question is was it that great in the cold light of day of 2013? I've watched Star Blazers on You Tube and it think it holds up quite well.
I can recall being ** scared just by the doctor who theme music. Back then we had the only TV in the street and one night half the nieghbourhood was in the lounge. I was hiding behind the sofa and told me it was ok to come out as dr who was finishing early so they could watch man landing on the moon
My 2 memorable episodes: the giant maggots wriggling across the English countryside, being bombed by the brigadier, or the close up of Linx taking off his helmet, revealing a pointy pig face.Scary.
Shows on before Dr Who? Rodger Ramjet, and the Wombles of Wimbledon. Inspector gadget. Also that freaky ghost sailor? who lived in some sort of lighthouse????

Dr Who scared the frack outta me I had nightmares of green slugs growing on my arm and turning in to a gaint fly or getting lost on some steamy moor
Definitely one of early Australia's defining TV shows along with Count Down, the ABC has a lot to answer for remember NO ADS how good was that

Re the low tech nature of the times and the shows' budget. I had the opportunity to see one of the original Dalek's. It was gob smackingly ridiculous how dodgy it was. BUT it looked awesome on TV!!???
last year the kids and I were driving through Cardiff ,trying to find the Tiger Bay docks where dr whoo gets filmed. we spotted a road sign that was simply a dalek after parking and wandering down we discovered they had opened a Huge dr who experience shed with all the original costumes,sets,monsters etc. brilliant way to spend an afternoon. we found out it had only been open 3 days!
Dr who scared me as a kid also . The goodies & Kenny Everate & Dr Who were all classified as adult viewing in England & as such were all on late at night. But we got them as kids shows in the evening & apparently its why the goodies are so popular in Australia now all the kids are now adults who go to see there shows. I remember seeing my first set of tits on TV on the Kenny everate video show . And they were actually Australian good on you Pamela Stevenson I think that's her name anyway she ended up marrying billy Connelly. There is a doctor who convention coming down under & its going to have David tennament & his father in law who's name escapes me at the moment who was also a doctor who
