Have just finished glassing what sounds to be a similar crack in a starboard wood construction freestyle board. I gouged out the 6 inch long crack to start with and found to my suprise that the crack had carried back about 2 1/2 inches beyond what was clearly visible.
Not sure if your ding is to the same extent but did find that if i supported the nose and grabbed both rails on the nose that i could flex the crack.
After filling with epoxy and qcell mix, sanded back and have just applied 2 layers of fiberglass tape with the bias of the cloth offset. This is an attempt to ensure the continuity of the skin is maintained, for i feel that just filling would of cracked again down either side of the filler material.

Been a fan of epoxy kilrust for years but a few weeks back my local paint store of choice didn't have any in white,a sails pitch began for rust-oleum ,even sticks to plastic,no primer required and while the trigger nozzle takes a bit of getting used to it can be sprayed at any angle,yep even upside down.Used a can for that job and went back for 2 more to do a board bottom and nose after some reshaping.
