Having arrived in Australia in the mid eighties my knowledge of Australian history is very sketchy I just read a book titled " The Killer cop and the Murder of Donald McKay" in which the author gives some pretty damning evidence of the CIA's involvement in the Whitlam fiasco.

Would love to hear some comments from informed individuals!

What are the connections between the CIA and the Whitlam government described in the book?

I do know the national anthem, at least the first verse. Only because we were laughed at by a stadium full of Kiwis in Auckland who realised that we did not know the words!

The CIA had employees, directors and such, on the board at the Nugan Hand bank worldwide. There was a little reference to Whitlam which I followed up. The Nugan Hand bank was organising the finance for the dope trade out of the Riverina.

The authors contends that the quantity of dope grown in the Riverina far exceeded the domestic use and was being shipped to the states.

It makes fascinating reading. It makes you realise how far the big money will go to protect the big money.

Gough was big an tuff.........and kept company of big tough people,

It was whispered that his wife could/would kick start a 747, or was that a 707.[}:)],

I feel he was bullet proof to the CIA, but they mighta winged him or got the Ruskis'

to do a few errands . Cubans hated his guts, they mita been involved.

Mexicans were a problem could have contributed some payback. Some Aboriginal

people identified with him. He invented Chineeze Checkers , Peeking Duck

and Ping Pong That bird from Alaska [paulin whatshername]wasnt around,

so I dont think she had anything to do with him. If you wore a high black hat and

had a beard , ringlets and money [}:)] Then you may have been a friend

I knew you would respond J Murray!

I have had my head in the sand for a long time but always been interested in history but only just recently started querying recent stuff.

I am a keen reader-give me some titles!

And who was the bird from Alaska?

Forget that old stuff, have a read about the current involvement of US defence contractors such as Halliburton in the building of government facilities here, the White House paper detailing the use of Australia as a massive refugee camp in the event of dramatic climate change and the UN plans for Australia to be the base for a future one world government (due to geological, political stability and geographical isolation), and how all the comm's for the Iraq invasion and most of Project Echelon (internet and phone intercepts) runs thru US facilities here in Oz.

That is a better and more importatnt read than what some Aussie politician may have done in the past.

and his reporting storys " The Light Horsemen" is Aussie classic history.
He has at least 40 other publications all are great, when you have read them
tell me and I will tell you of other great Aussie reading. Some books very hard to find but you should be able to get loan copies thru your local library service. I am sure others will also advise you of great reading, which is not crap. all the best

Mark, great that you look for answers, I am under no illusion that the corruption continues. The war on terror is a complete joke. The yanks have the Midas touch in reverse, everything always turn to **** and has done since the early 1950's. But it is important to know how and why it happened in order to demonstrate that what is happening now has been happening for too bloody long.

The body count exceeds excuse, but the clout that the big money has is being rapidly eroded by the internet. When the weight of the informed tips the balance against those who rely on the popular press, the uninformed, we might start to see progress. The CIA's involvement in foreign countries invariably involve protection of American commercial interests. Their constitution does not apply off shore. They are an abomination.

J Murray,I have found a great site for Ion Idriess and have ordered the Light Horseman at the library. The service here is brilliant.

I have recently read Capricornia, Power Without Glory and Ruby Don't Take your Love to Town by Ruby Langford. This country has such a fascinating history.

I have always been a reader of novels which probably accounts for my lack of knowledge about politics. I have read all of Tim Wintons books, other than the kids ones. Breath is an absolute must if you have not read it. Winton is a watersports hero.

Doctor I have looked it up but the bourbons are many but have bookmarked.

In reply I read a very very interesting article written by one Steve Kangas whilst looking up the Whitlam thing. After reading it I decided to look up his credentials. The next search item revealed his obituary.

After working in Army intelligence in the Caribbean he went to university and became an outspoken and informed left wing journalist.

He died in a right wing press palace after having committed suicide by shooting himself twice in the head!

After he died the people he was investigating released information that he was a pornographer, communist etc. etc.. Still no coroners report. Amazing man, shot himself twice in the head! Hows that for fortitude. HTFU!

Shooting yourself twice in the head shows you are a pretty tough bastard.

So does this book say the CIA supported the Whitlam government though its dealings with the Nugan Hand bank?

Why would a bank have to finance a drug running operation? Wouldn't a bank be needed to launder and transfer money from one end to another? Back then it was probably much easier to transfer cash internationally by courier than it is now.

Mark _australia: echelon... yes we are the AIPAC center.
Read: www.globalresearch.ca/strategic-us-military-intel-base-in-pine-gap-australia/8858
Pine Gap installations

Our over the horizon radars are also part of the under construction High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program daisy chain. While HAARP has been up and running for a long time they're busy daisy chaining, so they can transmit 3GW (ERP) ULF - UHF anywhere in the world... that's why Russia got the sh!ts with the Poland (missiles), Czech Rep. agreed to the "radar's"... it's now supposed to be using ships, but my intel has gone stale.

Not too sure about that UN head quarters stuff... UN cabal don't like the heat or culturally challenged places.

What about our military buildup? Biggest in GDP terms since WWII.
Read: www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=13523
(well researched)

AND LET'S not forget how KRudd and his stupid goons are going to censor all internet traffic in April... ostensibly to block porn... as you know the chinese and saudi's censor the internet to block "porn". Hell this post is porn.

I don't rate the chances of the internet being censored although it may happen. If it does you can bet that the likes of Rupert Murdoch will be rubbing their hands with glee.

The book implicates the Nugan Hand bank in both laundering drug money and political interference. The last chapter contains a speech made by Whitlam in parliament quoting evidence that the CIa were involved in smearing and false evidence leading to his removal. They also made huge contributions to the Country party.

japie: I think you didn't read my post... internet will be filtered from April unless some senators back track. Just thinking it couldn't happen, isn't going to stop it. You will hear KRudd and his goons saying "Family", "Safe", "Porn", "Drugs" continuously until it gets passed. And Julia Gillard will say it real slow in her "I've just had a stroke" voice.

This will only stop stupid kids from getting porn/drug info, but could prevent all of us getting frequently updated information the government doesn't like... unless you pay for a VPN.
It's not possible to filter encrypted torrent/eD2k packets, and they'll have to completely block rapidshare/megaupload/hotfile....

Oh and I forgot to mention WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS!

www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&rlz=1C1CHMB_en-GBAU359AU359&q=internet+filtering+australia+china+saudi&btnG=Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=&gws_rd=ssl

So unless your child is retarded, this is only going to slow our slow internet down.
