Hi guys.
Im looking for somewhere to go camping for 3 or 4 nights around Christmas time.

Dosn't need to be near the water or wind. Somewhere in the forest that at least feels like i'm away from civilisation.

I went to Baden Powell Dwellingup last year, that was cool thinking of maybe going back there or maybe trying one of the other campsites around that area like charlie's flat.

I dont want to travel more than about 4 hours.

My wife wants to go to Margerate River (we havnt ever been there) If there was somewhere about 45mins / 1 hour from Margerate River that would be great. So if anyone knows of a place in the forest about an hour from Margs that would be great so we had something to go an do during the day.

I want to be able to sit down at night in the forest and not see lights, hear traffic n ****.

Any ideas would be great.
Thanks.

haha good one.

To much sand and not enough trees in Perth though.

anywhere close to Perth will be packed, around Wellington Dam etc is nice but like Dwellingup, just packed.

There is some really nice places near Nannup and as it is away from the coast a lot quieter..

As already mentioned Barrabup and Workers pool outside Nannup are really good bush camps. Also half an hour out of Margaret river is a spot called Cane Brake. All have good swimming holes. If heading north, try Sandy Cape, jist pass Jurien Bay, for some great beach camping.

Forget Lane Poole reserve.

I never thought I would say it, but it's crap now. Baden has been completely cleared and is a day use only now. Nanga Mills has been reduced by half, cleared and has been made into a caravan park.

All other camp sites are by booking only and if you are asking only just now about those camp sites over xmas, then you are probaby t too late.

I thought the same thing when I lived down in Margs. Heard a song one morning on local ABC - "everything ends in "up" down South". From memory it had something to do with water.

Black point could be an option.

Moons crossing just out of Pemberton. Right on the river and in the middle of nowhere. Just make sure you have a back up plan for any free camps as youy can't book ahead and may not get a spot

If you're prepared to explore the Warren around them Manjimup area there are plenty of amazing places you can set up camp. No facilities though, just bush camping. Good fishing too.
