Tastes great on its own cold, a treat with peanut paste cooked with tomatoes half'n half, volume wise noice. Add to soups. Celery soup add a bit of onion. Add whole bunch, leaves an all to stews. Good to nibble on without gaing a lot of weight

Like it, adds some crunch to many dishes and is a natural salt additive. Of course it is green so my kids hate it. I have a dastardly plan to cut it up super fine and add it to the spag bol tomorrow. Nice to try and outsmart a three year old, doesn't happen often

That's an incomplete truth , envelop the stuff in tin foil and it really will stay hard n crisp in your fridge , for weeks ! ! ! Without the tin foil, after a couple of days , it would only be good for soup. I like it in a tomato and red onion salad and sometimes on its own with salt. J

Just insert it in a glass of water with food coloring in it. Won't be green for long.

It takes more energy to chew it than it provides. (may not be actually unfactual, not)

The reason you don't get much calorific value out of celery is because it is mostly made up of cellulose which is a polysaccharide we cannot digest. In fact, there are very few animals that can digest cellulose and those that can (like termites) require a symbiotic relationship with very specific bacteria to do so.

So it's not so much that it takes more energy to chew or anything like that. You simply get nothing out of it. Your body extracts the water and excretes everything else. That's not to say there are not any benefits from eating it. It makes for great roughage.
