I thought since people spend most of their time on the water and looking at the weather it would be a great place to get some advice on the subject. I live in Perth and do a lot of shore diving / snorkelling and have a hard time guessing what the vis is going to be like based on the weather charts. What point in the tide is best for visibility, what stage of the moon, wind direction.
I have discovered that when the wind is dead and the tide is highest I generally have good conditions. But still sometimes there is lots of choppiness and its just a mess down there. I heard wave period has a big effect. So does anybody have some good advice / links about reading weather for good underwater visibility.
