If its 40 degrees outside and you have spent the afternoon digging post holes a cold shower would be rather welcomed. If you've come off the water and 10 degrees with a 30 knot wind blowing then a hot shower is rather welcomed too.

used to take could showers working for months at sea due to water limit we had. farken hated it.
first thing you do when get back to the land is taking long long warm shower.

Only one good reason for a cold shower, which means yes I have tried a lot of them...

I have cold showers all the time... I haven't noticed any health benefits, but they sure make you up quick.

I wish my gym had a cold/freezing plunge pool...that would be TOTALLY awesome.
