Fair enough. I talked to my father about this. He is German and was a small boy during WW2. We talked about why the Germans did not resist after the National Socialist government surrendered in 1945.
He said the Allies dropped leaflets telling the Germans the following. If they resisted the occupation they would be exterminated. There would be no mercy and no differentiation made between the resistors and bystanders when retaliation was made. That and many other factors probably lead to little resistance to the occupation.
So whats the point of occupying Afghanistan if at least a sizable minority of the population doesn't like the government that is supported by the occupying army and will likely overthrow it in short order when the occupiers leave?
