quote:malus also has a pretty good break, but now that i think about it, it wouldnt be malus becuase it is way closer to sure, i havent been to karratha for close the 5 years now, so my memory of it is pretty bad, but boating there if i remember isnt to bad, but you do get sea sic fast with the nice roling swell,. as for the sharks over there, they usally stay clear of the break, because there is a reef to the side, where all the nice queen fish goto,

Sorry Jordo but it is Angel island where the waves are at off Dampier.
You are correct in regards to your geography but I can attest to there being waves off Angel.
One of our guys up there has also put in a permanent mooring off the island so you can leave the boat and get waves without the risk of it dragging an anchor
They lads have been watching it for a while... it would be cross off in easterly type breezes but the location of a near by island and height of it would cause some serious wind deflection/shadow.
In my opinin it would work great in a south wester but it would be a pretty heavy boat trip out there with 20 knot + seabreeze... that said it would still be worth it !

There is Sams island which is close to Dampier shore. Sam use to be the bloke who lived in the stone house you can see. In a cyclone I heard it breaks behind Sams
I already have a few reliable contacts to get me and my gear to Angels in a seabreeze
Cant wait. But for now its Hearsons with the killer 20 to 30 knot easterlies. Where is everyone? I seem to be the only one the sails up hereGets kinda boring. The flat water is enough to send me to sleep
