Fortunatly I have Foxtel, Just watched the second half of the Daytona 500, or as the commentators put it 'Dayyyytonu fivehunet!!!"
Good ol Southern boys commentating the last 40 laps had me in stitches,
Classic finish was down to the last 10 laps one of them says
"We got tyre's smoken, metal dragn, nobody gitin out o the throttle, all at hunetsixty miles n hour, Oh no, thays awreckn, boys, we got ourselves nuther caution.she's gunna be on from here on in"
Final two laps,
"they is abumpn an puuushn one nuther, everybody hard into the throttle not letn up now",finaly all hell broke loose behind the lead two cars,(who finished within 200th of a second of each other)"coming into the last turn, cars wreckn agin, one boy cross the finish line on his roof, car on fire, boy what a finish"

Got to hand it to those boys in the commentary box they sure have a way with words when it comes to something like the Daytona 500.
Who won, buggered if I know, I was too busy laughing. I do know the ol fulla of racing Mark Martin ran second, driving for the Army team.

Thats what I call a race finish

remember when Austar first got going in oz?

the whole premise was "advertising free television"

then they slowly started putting their own ads in showing what was coming up in future weeks, now its just an advertising smorgasboard!

Watching espn, fox sports, mtv or any other channel is such crap!! bombarded with more ads than normal tv.

I have had austar twice over 10 yrs, the last 3 yrs to watch the supercross and AMA motocross nationals on espn, but last year i got rid of it for ever, why pay 90 bucks a month for tv with ads!! such crap. We have a deal now with my daughters, we go and buy movies, surfing , music dvd's and still spend less than we paid for foxtel.

md74 ah yes I agree, its all become a bit hard to put up with and yes a number of work mates have gone your way with dumping pay TV But your history in motor sport would have you keen to watch such an event, maybe
Being ex Karter, and when they run in car camera, the noise, feel, speed, on the edge, not like them of course, but your arse 1/2 inch off the deck, the bloke next to you, so close it feels like he is sitting right next to you. mate its like your there.

Mineral, the mists are swirling, shifting, forming, it's becoming clearer and sharper,----- are you a daytime spanner head on industrial gardening stuff, like maybe civil construction or mining gear? I run into heaps of guys with your symptoms.(Phat Bikes, Supa Karts etc.) Great to see you have been adopted by a hobby that is a little more impact friendly.
The mists are swirling, swirling, and damn! Where did I leave my glass? Ummm where did I get to? Oh yes, civil stuff?,maybe mines. I'm thinking "working near the doctor" and I hear things are hot in WA at the mo in this line. A contract with a 20Kt clause surely can be a go in WA. near salt water?
I look blearily for a reply.

Plev LMHO um its mining, Cat dealer, big yellow things,
Got the tag being involved (and it sort of rolls off the tongue mineral Mick) from a marketing rep who worked with me years back. Clever chap with words, what sales rep isn’t.
My crew heard about it and it stuck. Its one of those that there are a few who work for me think that its my actual name. I get questioned now and then, "what nationality is the name from?" and so on. I usual explain, although a few of my work mates have strung the odd one or two with some malarkey
Yep and I seeeeeennn the light eventually and kicked the petrol head stuff and too to the water Actually sailed for three years until I watched a windsurfer one day and the sailing stopped dead, and the windsurfing kicked in.
And yes you have any skills trade or engineering the big BHP, Rio and others, always looking.
If you swing spanners, or into some of the engineering trades, let me know, we are looking looking looking
And we do re-locate

Hi Mineral,
You see there's no wind over this side of the big brown lawn and the green arrows I see for your side drive me nuts. Plenty of work here in Brisbane (surveyor) but (I'm pretty sure this is true) work is NOT every thing. Big industrial ride-on gardening gear is the same in WA as it is in Bris. and ditto for bashing pegs in. With the resources demand still hot WA must be busy.
The cyclone season is just around the corner so we may get to sail soon. From what I see on the charts you guys don't know how good you have it.
