Terrible news. We've viewed a few articles on The Age, online. Public interest is through the roof. "Reading this now" counts are like 750 to 3500 depending on time of day.

It's apparent that the police have their man. You just have this feeling that he's a "dead man walking". You get that feeling that someone will take care of this person on the inside.

Hopefully for the community, the alleged perpetrator in this article is the same guy who is already in custody.

Well said ,I too have been followed this tragic story.

I don't know about that,I believe we all would react in the same way no matter what the victim looked like,just we don't hear about a girl walking home and getting ****** raped and murdered every day,I'm sure this is not a daily event!

The justice system needs to lock this creep up for life not the first time this sicko gym jock has raped a defenceless female.

I agree with the first bit Dave, but you lost me with the second bit. I could see where you were going, but "going missing" is a completely different kettle of fish to finding a body and doing preliminary assessments for an alleged rape.

Some people can choose to "go missing". It seems that 'Jill' did not choose her destiny.

I reluctantly say this next part... but a prettier lady is going to be more appealing to a sexual predator.

The next phase is all about the police evidence. Nobody is guilty yet.

She was initially "just" missing but the media hooked in big time long before it was a sexual assault and murder.
She worked for the ABC so they jumped on it, then as soon as all the others figured they were missing a story and she was pretty they all got in a lather over it.


In WA this would not even have been a story when she was "just missing" but because she worked in media and was from WA originally, it was everywhere.


Everyone involved bar the offender has my deepest sympathies but this case does show the media for what they are.
They were beating this up when she was a missing person, and if my wife or daughter was missing right now I'd be fkn p!ssed right off about the disparity between Jill Meagher and my loved one
