Agree.
You watch what these people can do and what they have to deal with and then think about the attention able bodied athletes get.
Anybody that can make an Olympic games is amazing but the for me the Para Olympians embody the whole spirit thing. Respect!!!!!!!!!

what about paralytic olympics....?

i'm talking about being in the paralytic stages of intoxication, so don't get your pc knickers in a knot, besides the 100m sprint for people suffering from paralysis could take a while, and the pool events would just be plain cruel, though i'm sure you'd see some mighty belly flops in the high dive.

but i think i could be on to somethin here... imagine, if you will....

a cross between funniest home videos, its a knockout, big brother and ultimate fighting....

Actually I prefer to see them, than able bodied olympians perform. Not saying able bodied are not spectacular, but the heart and sole approach from the para combatants is spectacular
Most memorable was 19 year old female cyclist that the ABC interviewed Monday evening, her achievement ending with a bronze meddle was fantastic, but her speech in my humble opinion was the most inspiring from the heart speech ever uttered from a sportsperson. Truly a golden girl from Aus

I watched a little Chinese lass in the pool doing the 200m (4x50m) Individual medley.

Totally blitzed the field, what made her truely amazing was she pretty much didn't have any arms, just one hand attached to about 4" of arm.

All the strokes, that little arm went bezerk on the freestyle.

You watch these people and their drive for life given the adversity which they have been dealt, kinda puts into perspective our trivial little problems.

With you there Mineral, nearly brought tears to a grown man's eyes. That's what sporting attitude should be all about.
