Animals Australia might be able to bring live export to a standstill, but they've got bugger-all chance of stopping dog meat trade in Bali.

Reminds me of a funny story from new Ireland, after eating pork for a week my mate finally twigged that there were no pigs on the islands but a fairly good population of dogs that the locals never ever patted
sad if there is cruelty involved though probably no worse than the local Australian factory chickens and feedlots
animal proteins are so 20th century

There are heaps of pigs in New Ireland, besides shell money it is one of the big shows of wealth. dogs traditionally are not pets in PNG. Primarily they were hunting dogs, and around villages kept vermin down and survived (just) on scraps.

SEMALU Village Pigs Tied & Trussed to Bamboo Poles being prepared for a Village Feast, in KANDAS in Southern New Ireland along West Coast in PNG, Photo by Malum Nalu on 14-04-2016.

I have seen heaps of pigs departing Rabaul in banana boats, destined with the humans on board for New Ireland.

You can instantly tell the difference between dog -red meat, pork white meat.

There is really no difference between eating dog, and any other meat. As long as there is a bit of humanity in its life, and death, what is the difference, between eating a dog, cow, sheep, rabbit, chicken or guinea pig?

Leo Tolstoy once said "A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral."

"Because it doesn't show stress on its face, it doesn't feel it." True statement? It's naive of us to think that just because an animal doesn't behave in the way we behave, it therefore isn't having a conscious experience or is intelligent or feels stressed or tortured.
