I watched it - I have a pretty strong stomach - but to see any creature have its throat cut and bleed to death whilst thrashing about in that manner does sicken me - I suppose its doubly poignant when the animal is so benign and intelligent. I found myself getting angry - the jap govt. doesnt seem to give a **** - they hide behind the blatant lies of "scientific research" and "because weve done this for 500 yrs." - but it seems that the majority of the rest of the world has evolved but parts of the Japanese psyche still lives in the dim dark ages of Feudal Japan.

It is wrong - both killing dolphins and doing it in such a bad way.

I wonder what response a video of cows getting shot through the head with a bolt would have? After reading fast food nation i was quite shocked that a second bolt often has to be used.

I'm now heading off for a salad sandwich.

Yes it's all very gruesome and sad but it is just selective outrage after all. Have a look at the life, transport and final demise of our export sheep and then tell me we don't have blood on our own hands.

As a vegetable I resent that, but because I'm a vege I wont make a lot of fuss. I'll just sit here making very quiet vege noises and look annoyed.

Windy,

Do we have to take the pandas from China to Japan first or just do it in China and send the Japs a vid.

Little Johnny J.O. only signed the treaty cause Dubyuh told him to.

We all know Japan is a massive source of $ to prop up the teetering good ol US of A.

If Johnny gets another innings I bet he decides to rename us USA, ie (United states of Australia) we've got the letters Aus already but apparently George doesn't like the order.
Also I hear that we can no longer use the term "bush fire".

Sensitive little **** isn't he.

It is appalling to see such cruelty and total disregard for life, simply to meet the public's wanton desires.

I've seen heavy footage like this on a documentary called Earthlings (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1282796533661048967 ) and I assure you the killing of livestock is just as brutal, footage of which is shown in that documentary. There's absolutely no difference between the slaughter of dolphins and the killing of millions of sheep, pigs, and cows every year (in Australia alone).

I would encourage anyone who feels they are man enough to stand up for what they do and be responsible for their actions, to view this documentary and face the reality.

That's wonderful us. We could be better I'm sure, but we're not.

So I’m a homo sapiens sapiens
A peculiar kind of bod
Not so different from a chimpanzee
But a little more like God

Cursed and blessed with language
And a vast hubristic pride
With the dangerous tribal nature
Of the wolf that trots beside

There is always ‘them and us’
They are always ‘other’
They could live in foreign lands
Or they could be my neighbour

And its always right to be on top
Doesn’t matter if they suffer
They are different from us
Not like you and me my brother

And when the mob is howling
I am howling too
And if its blood the mob is after
It’s the ‘other’ we pursue

And what is ‘other’ shifts and changes
So you have to watch your back
You could end up torn and bleeding
At the mercy of the pack.

animal gief .

I've often contemplated turning vege just because of animal rights issues, but I have never bothered to really think it through (animal rights), or think it through (turning vege).

There's probably a web site about both of these. I shall look.

The leatherman is my shepherd,
I shall not want;
He makes me stalk down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my eye.
He leads me in paths of hunting
for His name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil;
for You are with me;
my leatherman it comforts me.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
and i have no bad habits
and I shall dwell in the house of fun
and feast on bunny rabbits.

NotWal ,

i went vegetarian once , all i ate was chicken .
and then i heard on this song and they said "chicken`s not a vegetable " so i had to rethink .

i`ve been on long fish`n trips where fish was the staple diet and let me tell you people , the animal world suffered when i hit the main land .

The all beer diet is the answer to everything. It contains elements of all three food groups - alcohol, water, n vegemite.
