As a country guy, not knowing the 'city-life', how prolific is the 'drug scene'?

Growing up, in my adolescent years (15-20yrs ago), I was surrounded by 'joints', 'bongs', & 'heroin'. Nowadays, I see the 'pill' culture everywhere, (yeah, even in the country!)

Honestly, (and I mean HONESTLY), what point is it at in the cities with you, the majority of the w/surfing fraturnity - Melb, Syd, Bris, Prth, Adel, etc......???

I've made comments that might be 'old-fashioned', but are my honest opinions, and are the base of my beliefs....I won't apologise for this!

Class A are a lot more prevalent now than they were 10 years ago. It seems every man and his dog has or is on the pills. I'm not saying it's a terrible thing, but something that needs to be done in moderation. I've seen a lot of guys burn out from over-doing it. It's funny how much bad press drugs get compared to 'legal drugs'. Last year in the US 10 people died from overdoses with ecstacy, whereas over 200'000 died from smoking related illnesses. I'm not condoning drugs, but I think the government needs to look at their overall approach to how illegal and legal drugs are managed/classified. I think they also need to look at their anti-drugs campaign. Using scare tatics will only work for a small proportion of young potential drug takers, as soon as they realise the adverts they're watching and listening to are complete rubbish then they will continue to ignore any future government warnings and advertising campaigns. Some of the drugs people are taking today were legal not so long ago. Ecstacy became illegal only in the late 80s early 90s. Prior to that it was prescribed to patients by Doctors and Psychiatrists for various problems.

Geez I hate getting stuck talking to a stream-of-unconciousness sh!t dribbling pill/wizz/crack head!!

Look in life most people dabble with many drugs.. whether they acnowledge them or not (yes alchahol and ciggys are drugs) they are part of life. Some enrich the public tax box and some are back alley way stuff.

Fact: Alcahol deaths and cost stack up to far higher to the general public in all forms (hospital expenses, crime, family impact) than all other elicit substances combined and lets face it piss-ups are in the aussie constitution.

Things are very differant these days though... (showing my lack of youf with that phrase ). Hard stuff - class A gear such as coke, pills, speed/ice - are actually easier to get than humble weed. Not that weed is safe by any means. Hydro is soooo strong as to send you on almost mushy like halucinations and takes ages to clear from your system. Erm... apparently.

Ever since the old cave men and women realised that fermented fruit got the party started that has been the human way...

It pays to be more careful than judgemental, as anyone can fall off the wagon in life at any stage... midlife crisis then start banigin up some wizz! Yep, that's not just an add on the teev that sh!t happens... I have a friend who worked in a public rehab/detox clinic and it is seriously a bogun sitting/writhing next to a stockbroker, sitting next to a tradie, sitting next to a housewife... etc etc. You get the idea..
