close, this stemmed from late last year and start of this year, I think ethonal producers could not get there bi product (dunda) which is applied to paddocks in replacement for fert, on paddocks cause of the wet. which stopped production of ethonol. Thus could not supply bp shell etc.

I work for one of the fuel companies.

The ethanol factories (not owned by the fuel companies) got smashed by the floods (or perhaps it was their feedstock? not sure). They told us back in January that they would be offline till the end of the year(ish).

(Better off without the ethanol in the fuel anyway).

my dad was using it and just about wrecked his car he tells me. the upshot was for some reason the e10 type fuel does something -glazing or something or other and chewed up all his oil. its a newish car. further inquires to auto mechanics and motoring bodies don't recommend using that fuel.

anyone else know anything about this!!!

If ethanol is SO bad for cars why haven't the people in the US and Brazil been told?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_by_country

Why would fuel companies want to put ethanol into fuels?... it cuts their profit margins thats why.

It's a conspiracy I tells ya!

They've taken all the ethanol to burn in jets that lay chemtrails so that our memories of the purposeful demolition of the WTC and building 7 are hazy.

does it? just because it cheaper doesn't necessary mean there's no money in it.

it strange because the governments are saying its good and yet my dad is being told by mechanics and motoring bodies it's not so.

so who's right. why have premium fuel?

Plenty of it in NSW cos petrol stations are required by law to carry it. NRMA says its ok for almost all vehicles but lists have been published somewhere.

This was a great lobby action by cane famers I think. Went from no ethonal to ethonal at all sations with very little fuss or studies on impacts

Depending on how your fuel injectors are wired it can corrode them while the car is turned off. Haven't heard anything else bad about it. I wish we had E85.

Adding ethanol is good for a fuel companys profits. Adding ethanol boosts octane, so the fuel companies only have to supply a base feedstock of around 87 octane instead of having to blend it up to 91.

The main reason why ethanol is bad for your car (and also why it is limited to 10%) is because it absorbs water, the water then dissolves anything acidic out of the petrol (which is harmless without the water) and the acid solution then corrodes crap out of everything. It won't happen overnight but it will happen. That's why it says at BP servos to fill boats up with 95 or 98 octane.

If ethanol mixed with petrol stuffed cars wouldn't there be warranty claims and claims for damages made against fuel companies?

yep you guys have the mandate, qld lobbyist fell short of getting one,
sure it is ethonol ? getting pumped from e10 pumps might be just Plain old unleaded .
Did a couple of comparisons few years ago with unleaded fuel v e10 ,One thing for sure if you use it you burn more.
