I saw an ad on TV today where one of the companies that want to do it, is arguing that 'its a good thing'.

No mention of the risks, no mention of the benefits to us, just that 'they' think its a good thing.

It was pointed out in an article recently that gas consumption has fallen, and that the demand is coming from exporting overseas. So why fracking? Its not going to help us, its just going to open up more gas for exports.

We get the risk, someone else gets the profit.

I found an old gas bill today, and prices have increased a lot. Fracking is not going to bring them down, so there doesn't seem any benefit for us at all unless we want bubbly water coming from our taps.

And those that directly benefit from externalities of natural resource consumption would prefer not to pay as it would decrease their profit margin
So the social and environmental costs of the economic paradigm are still borne by the majority
Regulation of industry to impose a cost on externalities is the only reasonable course of action within the current paradigm
Ps the merchants of capitalism will continue to do as they please because they have all the money and all of the guns I.e. They on the means of production
