I have noticed the delete button is missing and avatars do not show up on profiles.

Have the forum controls been changed or is it a setting in my profile??

I'm not sure Cisco.

In the deepest recesses of your mind do you feel that this could possibly be a conspiracy aimed squarely against you?

I think Laurie, has to come out and explain this.

In view of the impending double dip financial crisis as reported by one or two of our esteemed forum members, it was decided at a recent meeting of forum administrators that some cuts should be implemented to services provided.
A number of possibilities were proposed, one of them being the removal of the 'delete' button and also the removal of avatars on a part time basis.
Avatars will now only be displayed on 4 special days such as Xmas, new year's day and Julia's birthday. There is still the availability of one extra day not yet allocated. Suggestions will be taken.

These measures will result in a saving of 0.00000035% of annual expenditure, in line with the projected savings in CO2 emissions from the carbon tax.
The management would like to thank everyone for their understanding.

^^^ hahahaha -you need a management job!

Hmm I don't think anything has significantly changed, and I also don't think you can change those settings on a per user basis (unless you are Laurie!)

Who's avatar can't you see? Mine or the can?

I can see a pissed off looking cat there.

Edit:- And there is an Edit button and a delete button on my post now.

Edit2:- I am not seeing any avatars when I click on any Profile button.

Edit3:- I know the Edit button is only available for 4 hours after making a post.

Edit4:- Formerly the Delete button was permanent.

Edit5:- We all allegedly being human have varying moods and may sometimes say things when not in a proper state of mind and upon reflection an individual may wish to withdraw words previously said.

Edit6:- Is it unreasonable to have that option by way of an always available Delete button?

Edit7:- As allegedly intelligent beings, moderation need not necessarily be from without. It can be excercised from within by way of conscience.

Edit8:- From Adolf "I'm not sure Cisco.

Not in the least. Why would anybody want to pick on me?

Edit9:- TTFN. Back in 5 hours.

Completely agree, but after a certain amount of time the thread may have moved on and it would be unfair to let people "take back" or change what they have said.

Hmm, are you running any ad blocking software like adblock plus?

Can you see this image (it is your avatar)

I have been accessing the site using IE 8 while the rest of the family use Google Chrome. I see the avatar in your post with both.

At the moment now I am on the site with Googs and I see the avatars on mine and others profiles, so the avatar thing must be a popup blocker in IE 8.

The machine is XP Home, Service Pack3 and all updates, AVG 2011, MS Office 2010 and the usual Acrobat Reader, Irfan Viewer and Flash Player, Goog Earth and iTunes.

I think having the Delete button for a week should be fair enough.
