Fuel is cheap

Can you name another liquid, apart from tap water, that is cheaper?

Think about the steps involved to get it from the ground to the pump, I mean think about how hard it is to build a platform in the North Sea
which then drills down... way down to get the oil. Then you've got to refine, store and ship it all over the world.

And it's cheaper than orange juice.

The other amazing thinig is that you can buy a machine, brand new, for around $13,000 - with warranty
This includes a stereo, air bags, remote locking, alarm etc etc.
You can then put 4-5 adults in this machine and travel at 100kmh + for hour after hour, the cost of which is about 10c/kilometre!

And all this runs on the cheapest liquid I can think of. It's even cheaper than bottled water. I think it's bloody amazing.

Edit: Distance between Sydney and London is about 16,000km.
You can get a one way ticket for around $1600, or 10c/Km.
That's you and your luggage flying at 1,000kmh for 10c/Km.

Now I'm thinking perhaps we are all spoilt

Some local boys have it covered.........No good if you have to use bottled water $$$$$

http://warrnambool.yourguide.com.au/news/local/news/general/rising-fuel-prices-turn-young-brothers-into-inventors/786579.aspx

I wonder if water restrictions allow you to use water as fuel, perhaps a good use for recycled water?!?

The only reason petrol is cheaper than beer is because the government taxes the hell out of beer. When I made my own homebrew it cost me about 10 cents a litre. Petrol is cheap too, would be cheaper if the government didn't tax it so much. We need to use it all up before the upcoming alien invasion.

I for one welcome our new alien overlords.

I have no objection to the price of fuel. If it stays put!!!

What I do have objection to is the parity pricing introduced in the 80's (?) when the alternative (cheaper fuel) means we could be self sufficient, thus lowering the price of manufacturing, agrigulture and mining and therefore making more money for australia.
What I object to is the companies putting the price up on Friday before a long weekend, claiming it is a normal cycle, and the impotent knobjockeys at the ACCC claiming they will take action.... 5 yrs later nothing has changed.
What I also object to is the inflation caused by fuel prices- which is massive (25% increase in groceries in 2yrs!!!!) but the Govt claims it is still about 4% or something. Bvllsh!t!!!!
I also object to the fact that some countries still pay half what we do.... and their fuel production is much LESS than Australia's. IE- the import it cheaper than we sell it here??? WTF???

I also object to gas for 3c / litre to China, especially when we now have a gas crisis in WA!!!

Agreed Mark, I just don't understand the logic of virtually giving our resources away. Sure we have a lot of them but they aren't infinite, when they run out our descendants aren't going to be very happy with us for squandering them.

2yrs. ago i was so interested in a Discovery Channel series about a plant whose seeds burn for bout 2mins. the size of a peanut only to know we had it in our island and are called Jatropha Curcas..so i sought the help of my alumni La Salle Univ. chem. studes and the prof. gladly introed me to 4 of them who decided to make a thesis on refining it to biodiesel from raw oil..well their thesis was tops and made them summa cum laudes and i sent a few liters to the Dept. of Energy and the Petron refinery for analysis and lo and behold, btu, flashpoint, sulphur, and hectane values was better than that of diesel...but never took off..studies show we need thousands of hectares just to make it feasible

Stribo, meet teabagg.

Yes it's all a horrible, horrible conspiracy and we are all suffering slaves.

Look at these, poor, miserable slaves. They have no idea how good the world could truly be. If only they woke up:

I prescribe this:

The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark.
Ballantine Books, March 1996, ISBN 0-345-40946-9, 480 pgs

Amazing how close we are to slipping back into the dark ages. It really is.

But... I really must give the conpiracy guys credit for approaching it all through doubt. That is the way to go (just don't stop)

Yes but if orange juice were cheaper I could use my skills learned building an orange powered radio to construct an orange juice powered car using old remote control jet hopper engines. Krudd could give me a grant.

I think stribo was exaggerating the enslavery bit, but yes...

To expand on my fuel is cheap rant: we have really, really got it good compared to 100 years ago. Science and technology have really improved our standard of living and our health, enormously. Who can't say "thanks science for making me feel better at some point in my life"?

Bit like "Life of Brian". "And what have the Romans ever done for us, eh? Apart form the roads, schools, sewerage..."

Stribo is right though, empires can and do collapse overnight.

PS I'd like to see the govt. at least consider inflating our way out of debt, a little bit.

Slavery

Slavery (also called thralldom) is a social-economic system under which certain persons — known as slaves — are deprived of personal freedom and compelled to work.

Slaves are held against their will from the time of their capture, purchase, or birth, and are deprived of the right to leave, to refuse to work, or to receive compensation (such as wages) in return for their labor. As such, slavery is one form of unfree labor.

In its narrowest sense, the word slave refers to people who are treated as the property of another person, household, company, corporation or government. This is referred to as chattel slavery.

Hmmmm we're not far off....Who owns you?

Sure, I agree but the purpose of society is to move forward and does, we havent finished yet, not by a long shot the idea is that colectively we solve problems, 150 years ago horses shat and pissed everywhere and in new york they generated swimming pools of the stuff everyday, then someone made the car and everyone thought how clean and wonderous, now we know its a piece of ****, its not easy to change over night but it will because in the end we as society are working towards inproving things.politions may be tools but I dont believe they enter the world of politics to make life worse for everyone, if it was all consipacy and toss, we would all be slaves (i dont mean mortgage slaves, you choose how to spend your money, no one else) and have no choices, prospects, education, money, partners, children or quality of life. we certainly wouldnt have marvelous sailing equipment currently brought to you by wonderous petroleum products!

they could be made from hemp... as for medical science, look up the codex on the conspiracy filled internet, your choices about how you live your life are being taken from you, this is conspiracy fact, natural remedies are being made illegal, and medical science never cures, because that would be bad for profit.
