Heya Guys!
Looking to had to Geraldton later in October with (non windsurfing) wife, child and very well behaved dog.
Any suggestions on cheapish accomodation (self contained cabin) close to water for me and shops etc so the others don't get too bored?
I'm planning to mainly sail at Point Moore with a daytrip or two up to Corro's. Any other local info very much appreciated!!!!!!

G'Day Kecksoff

another couple and us are allso going up later this month, we'll be staying at sunset caravan park, they've got a caravan, we've booked an onsite cabin, costing us $576 for a fortnight.
Woops wife says, the dog is a problem there! But thinks that the Drummonds site is OK. Try the gero tourist site, that may help.

even though the Belair gardens caravan park is very close to point moore, I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
The guy who runs the place is a real cockhead, who deserves to be shot. so ur chances with the dog might be limited. god forbid the dog might even contemplate barking after 8pm, you might find yourself being kicked out.

just a warning to all.

I stayed at the Belair caravan park and the guy that runs it was a good bloke, friendly & helpful I guess If you carry on like a cockhead(deduced from looking at your previous opinionated posts) in the park then as he's looking after his interests and starts behaving the same.

Cheers Guys!
Belair is nearly fully booked except for the $110p/n De-Luxey Spa room (and non dog friendly, though sounded cool enough on the phone Bertie. Musta copped 'em on a wrongun'...).
There's a couple of private houses for rent up Point Moore end of town that I am waiting for a reply on.
I remember going up there a few years ago and wondering why nobody was sailing straight off the front of the CBD. Is all the water open to windsurfing? Is Point Moore the best to sail near town? Is Drummonds any good to sail Decrep????

the beach near the cbd is in a huge wind shadow from the port, there's also some shallow reef around there. St Georges can be great flat water before you hit the waves (if there's any swell) a hundred meters or so out, about 3km north of cbd. Sunsets picks up the swell better breaks out further and has a longer ride, that's another few kms further north.
Point More sticks out to sea further and gets good uninterupted wind, but for some reason I prefer sailing St Georges or Sunsets. I don't feel comfortable at Hells Gates, too far to swim if something goes wrong!
Not sure about Drummonds, certainly there's surf there, haven't seen any sails out there going to or from Coros.
There's a couple of house rentals near St Georges thou if you're thinking of going down that path.

Cheers Decrep!
Have scored a house on Point Moore (for $60 per night!) so will sail there for most, and look to travel to St Georges & Sunsets for a sail too!

No worries Seaton.
Might see you up there, look for a couple of old farts in a white corolla station wagon, on wavewand boards with Avalon sail co. sails

Cheers Mike
