His name is Bear and he is 3 years old.

Our neighbours do not like Big Black dogs and are causing us all sorts of grief.

We have no option now but to give him to a really loving home.

As I said his name is Bear he is a 3 year old Rotti x Doberman
He is Very Very Friendly
Very Energetic
Loves Kids (has spent a lot of time with my 2 little ones)
Lovely Natured

PM me if you are interested or if you know anyone who is

If he's registered and done nothing wrong, tell your neighbours to get fkd! Unless you think they're likely to bait him?

What's their problem with him anyway? Does he bark a lot or something?

They are old, he barks if someone walks past with another dog and if the cats from up the road are roaming but that is all.

They have made a couple of complaints to the council because of this.

But when it comes to noise these twats will complain about anything.

It was 3 O'Clock one afternoon and my hubby was out fixing the fence when they came up to him and told him that he was being too loud with the drill and that there are laws against noise pollution.

They are ****ers but they are really causing lots of trouble.

Baiting him is something that I wouldn't put past them.

Dont cave into them. the council will hopefully realise that they are morons. Once youve tried being polite, be rude. Old people cant deal with it.
Gosh and they think young people cause all these problems

Yesterday we had a massive argument with them, I was supposed to be going kiting today but can't leave the house because we are worried about what they will do. Hopefully we can find him a home by Tuesday when I have to go back to work

Get him a bark collar or alternative methods. Shouldn't have to give up your mate because of a couple of d*ckheads. It is wrong that people that have nothing better to do than start ** with others. Stick to your guns, learn your rights (using a drill at 3pm- invite them to contact police, they will soon become known as nuisance), don't reciprocate and wait for them to stuff up.

If that doesn't work I'm sure we'll all enjoy a good party or 15 to challenge those noise laws

Cut them up and feed them to your dog.

Easy!

We have the bark collar but it's mean to keep it on him all the time. We onl use it when we are not at home. (According to them it can't be working)

I'm up for the party!!!

We have done everything within our power to keep the neighbours happy, and still they are jerk-offs.

We don't want the council to take him away (which is what these people are going to be asking for the council to do) and we don't want to give him to the RSPCA. We just want him to go to someone who is going to love him like we do.

I would think the council wont take him away if you explain to them the situation you are in. I think it is unfair that you would have to give away your dog for no reason. You should go to the council first and complain about them annoying you the whole time.
Or if you dare. Today tonight the thing. That show loves this crap, and you could be the good guy, and them the bad guy.
If it were me i would never give my dog away because my neighbours were dicks. Put him inside when you are out, and if they touch him they will probably end up in prison(or hospital, its a big dog, im sure he could look after himself when your out)
Beautiful dog btw.

thanks DP he is a beautiful dog.

That is what makes it sooooooooo difficult to do this.

The Council know our side (these neighbours have made numerous complaints before) But the Council have said that they will have to take him away if it continues. We are basically at the end of the line with this that is why I have put the story on the forum, in case someone here would like to give our gentle giant a loving home.

I got an idea. A little out there, but still.
You could show them the dog, and tell them when you are out, he can stay in their backyard. That he will watch over the yard and house, and will warn them of an intruder. WOuld be handy for them as they are older people, and a nice big dog could make them feel safer. They might learn to love him.
You could tell them that youd clean up his mess after every visit. And give em like 3bucks (it once was a lot of money) for babysitting him.
Just a thought.

Only problem with this idea is the story could be complaining nuisance neighbours or neighbours with noisy dog scaring elderly citizens. You have no control on the spin THEY put on the story...

Stick to your guns...

Thanks for all your support. Council came around today and said we have 7 days to find him a new home or they will take him to the pound.

So if anyone knows someone who wants a dog........

The neighbours have done a diary entry thing for the past two weeks. It's crap and we will try to fight it but if we can't it is goodbye to Bear.
Caloundra is the council and their by-laws are pretty strict. But we will try to appeal it

Well good luck, and I hope it just ends with the dog leaving. With one of my mates it didn't end until he'd sold house and moved.

I wish they'd abolish councils all together, they all feel they are laws unto themselves and as it seems they are- they can create whatever by-laws they want especially those involving "safety", "pollution" or "environment".

Thanks. *Edit* I should take my sons over to the neighbours once Bear is gone and I am going to tell the neighbour that THEY can explain to my boys why their pet had to be sent away.

We have another dog who is 6 and she is going to take it really hard too.

I wouldn't. You never know what your neighbors will do or say, which in turn will affect your kids. If people have no heart then bringing kids into it won't change a thing.

I knew what you meant Susie.

Greenroom, The Council can't take away the kids. But because Bear is a dog it seems that we have crap all power. What sucks is that to us both our dogs are like children.

I just started this thread to hopefully find a loving home for him because I don't want to take him to the RSPCA or the Council to take him to the Pound

Honestly chook, I'd be seeking legal advice as to your options. Satan would be ice-skating to work before I'd let the council come and take my pets away.

I think you'll find the council needs more than a diary entry from a single neighbour. Unless things have changed drastically since the last time I looked into this, they need written complaints from at least 3 different neighbours. Then they have to come and do an assessment of the noise themselves. Unless he barks more than x minutes within y hours, they can't take him away.

What sort of barking collar do you have? I've seen the citronella ones used with very good results. I'm not in favour of the electric shock type ones, but the citronella ones have a much less 'violent' approach. All you have to do is keep it full.

Talk to a solicitor and find out what you can/can't do to fight it. If you're going to take on the council, you'll need to be appropriately armed.

Hello,

I am sure that the council must conduct a noise test from inside the neighbours house to get a fair and justified level for evedence to support the claims of your A hole older folk neighbours.

At least try and get in touch with a lawer to understand your rights.

Please give it a try.

Goodluck and dogs rock.

Something I just stumbled across when cleaning up files on my PC. Had to go through this a while back. Fortunately the neighbour was not able to get coroboration from 2 other neighbours as is required by my LGA.

It is important that the dog owner investigates the barking and not just relies on the complainant’s information. This will assist in identifying if the dog is causing a
nuisance and will help if/when dealing with barking. Below are some guidelines to
help authenticate or dispute the barking complaint:

Firstly check with all surrounding neighbours to establish if, when and why the
dog may be barking. Establish if the dog is causing a nuisance to other
neighbours.

Have another neighbour record (diary) details of dog barking.

Leave a voice-activated tape recorder on when you are out.

Check on the dog regularly at the time of the alleged barking (ensure that the
dog does not notice you).

Secretly take the dog to a boarding kennel for a few days to a week. During
this period request the council check with the complainant (if an official
complaint has been made) regarding the activity of barking dog. A signed
receipt from the kennel should be obtained.

Thanks heaps everyone

I have spoken to the Council again today as none of my other neighbours have found his barking excessive. The Council are going to investigate as to whether or not the Old Farts that are complaining are just doing this to cause trouble.

I went out and came home periodically throughout the day and I didn't hear a thing. I haven't spoken to a Solicitor yet but I will be on Thursday.

There is one guy who lives right next door and he is a shift worker. He sleeps during the day and has said that he has NEVER heard either one of my dogs bark (unless there is someone walking by with another dog), he said that he will write a stat. dec. for me to give to the council to prove this.

Thanks heaps for all of the words of encouragement.

Hopefully Bear is staying with us where he belongs!!!
