The more you read on the subject of "Global Warming" and "Rising Sea Levels" the more doubts seem to come to the surface?
Any opinions?

Next thing they will blame the earthquake in China on global warming

Hang about, just have to get flame proof suit on...................
righto do ya best you lot[}:)] and while your about it, work out how your going to stop the biggest green house producer stop producing green house gas. The worlds oceans and its rotting vegetation

I used to believe all that was said about global warming and the dire warnings of gloom and calamity that would afflict the world due to our vile ways.

However I am not sure now. If global warming is happening I do not understand how it automatically means Australia will become more inhospitable. From what I understand, warmer air holds more water vapour, meaning more rain. So should we not expect higher rainfall across Australia? If not then surely the large landmass across Canada, northern Europe and Russia will become more productive as they are not covered in snow for six months of the year.

The fact is climate always changes. Science generally accepts that average temperatures for the Earth are generally lower than what we currently have. Global cooling would be much worse for us and the environment than global warming. Nothing much grows or lives on an ice cube.

I do believe global warming is becoming an industry, much like the Aboriginal industry or the child protection industry. What is a legimate cause becomes a livelyhood for the experts and masters of that area. They earn good money through grants and salaries to put forward their views.

In regards to the scientists who warn about global warming. The best thing they could do is kill themselves. If they are dead they will no longer produce Co2, except from their rotting corpse. However as they live, drive their car, eat food, fart, breathe, go on a trip overseas, etc, etc, they are producing Co2 and other greenhouse gasses.

History (geological record) tells us global warming and global cooling as well as rising or falling sea levels are fact.

Is anthropogenic pollution (specifically carbon) driving global warming and leading to higher sea levels No idea...

One thing we are seeing in WA at the moment is more sporadic sea breezes (more heat troughs) and less winter rainfall/fronts.... These two things might suggest Antarctic thermal collapse

What we really need is a nice big volcano to block out all that nasty sun light - like Chaiten:

Don't know that I believe in Global Warming - but I do believe in climate change. Seems the self-feeding industry that has arisen from the Global Warming theories takes all the data supporting and ignores all that that does not (and the data that doesn't support is substantial as well which really shows that schools out on the whole theory in reality at this point) - the whole industry is sounding more political than scientific every day. But we (humans) have enjoyed a very stable climate for the past few thousand years and that is going to change irrespective of what we do. Must appreciate though that the side benefit of the pro-global warming industry is that we are looking at how we can reduce the pollution damage that humankind is doing to the planet. I just hope the industry is not creating a situation where all the funding it is getting is in the wrong directions - and this will affect the world economically as well with the whole carbon economics scenario arising.

PS: How many people know of the thousands of square miles of floating plastic sea in the middle of the Pacific in the current vortex zone - getting much bigger every year. It is where a very large proportion of all the garbage that floats out of storm water drains etc from the americas and asia ends up.

I'm not sure about the whole 'Global-Warming' debate, with all the propoganda floating around, I've become desensitised to everything I hear in the media.....but I'm a firm believer in doing what we can to keep our planet as natural as possible. A balanced ecosystem is a goal we should all be aiming at! If it means we have to 'ride-out' the changing climate, if it's a natural occurance, then so be it.....not much we can do about that. If we find out conclusively that we (human race) are causing it.....I think that, globally the economy needs to take a back seat until solutions are found, whatever the cost!

It's unbelievable... what's scary is that all that plastic is entering the food chain

Sorry I understated it - hundreds of thousands of cubic miles (not just surface). I think this should be one of the very major concerns affecting the world's scientists and enviromentalists - how to stop adding to it and how to clean it up - if that is at all possible.

Fairly easy to stop it growing, stop dropping rubbish in the street. I lived in Hong Kong for a while and people over there used to drop rubbish wherever they felt like until the government brought in big fines for littering and inspectors to police the streets. Same as in Australia, back in the 70s there was the clean up Australia campaign. We need to keep on it too.

Cleaning it all up would be costly but technically doable. Just get some big ships and scoop up all the crap out there and then bury it somewhere.

I don't know about rising sea levels but if I wasnt on a public computer I could show you the change in high tide levels at Snapper Point sailing spot. The walkway is way out on the beach cos the sand dunes have been washed away. The high tides sure seem higher to me. But what would I know...

richie, you would be amazed how many people do not understand this concept! its a bit like saying the future is unavoidable and nothing you do will change the future. the future is just another name for the past, only it hasnt happened yet.

i don't think there is any coincedence that the ones selling us the solution to global warming are the ones who sold us the stuff that's supposed to have caused it in the first place.... the truth really is out there, for anyone willing to open their eyes and minds to look... here's one place to start www.rense.com
