Global warming is starting to cause global weather changes.

Here's a quote from Dr. David Suzuki:

quote:I wonder whether most Australians understand [that] when Russia ratified the Kyoto Protocol, that protocol became international law. Now, by saying they weren't going to abide by the protocol or even sign it, the United States declared a long time ago under the Bush Administration that it was going to be an international outlaw, but I'm shocked that Australians will accept [this] position - that is, to ape the Americans and say 'we're not going to be bound by this',"

Comrades,

Da it is da, but as i am becoming more Oz-iefied I am using many more of the yar not da.
This is being pointed to me much often when speaking with family and Russian Comrades.
I sound very much like Australian according to them yar.
Ja is for speaking in Polish.
With more practicing I hope to become more Stralian less Russian.
You see by my name and location on forum that I am moving closer to Australian from Mother Russia.... Seychelles now, soon Mauritius and then Western Australia.
I bee there in couple of weeks soon for sure yar.
Maybe more Stralian lessons when I arrive along with EB and this kebab with egg !

Still even though my language is changing it seems your government is not... saying no to Koyoto is crazy for certain yar !
If good for mother Russia is good for everyone

it is astonishing. The recent huge rallies all around Australia against global warming and pro Kyoto do show that a lot of people are very angry about this issue. Its time we all put pressure on Howard and his cronies to ratify Kyoto now. Email or write in now
go to
www.getup.org.au/
its easy.

also check this out:
www.synergyenergy.com.au
you can ask the electricity company to make a proportion of your power come from wind or solar. it does cost a little more but it sure beats installing solar panels!
if the demand is high enough they are legally obliged to build more .

but wait!, thats not all..
www.carbonneutral.com.au/
this is a WA based company who you can pay to plant trees to offset your carbon emissions.

and now a set of steak knives....

We only contribute 1.6% of the world's carbon emissions so even the most dramatic changes here would not be able to counter the effects of Global Warming.

Australia should sign the Kyoto protocol to join the world in putting pressure on the USA and China to change their attitudes and practices.

Wouldn't you sign a petition to stop your neighbours dumping their rubbish in your back yard?

Quote for the moment.......

"..politics is the shadow cast on society by big business.."
John Dewey (Leading social philosopher USA)

and... one for many moments.....

"...the masters of the government of the United States are the combined capitalists and manufacturers of the United States..."
Woodrow Wilson (28th President of the good ol US of A)

Well its obvious then Plev, by "casting a shadow" the politicians are doing their bit to reduce global warming

Guys!
I'm not defending the government but: Lets not forget that singing the Kyoto Protocol NOW would be detrimental and contradicting to all of us Ozzie's! The Cole industry (as many other mining sectors)is booming like never before and states economy (and national economy)like WA and QLD are booming and flourishing. Not only the Cole we produce is used by us but we provide the whole Asian market with it worth billions of $. Letting go of now would put a HUGE dint in our economy! And who will feel it the most? The little people like us!
What Australia should do is reinvest huge sums into R&D on other forms of energy. We should be world leader in SOLAR POWER and water conservation yet we are years behind!!! For example in Israel solar panels have been mandatory on every roof top since I can ever remember(I am Israel originally). That brings us back to 1985. When I first arrived in Oz (1997), I was stunned by the fact that cane farmers are literally flooding their fields. And do this in the middle of a hot stinking summer day!!!???
We have the brains, we have the money (the Australian economy is one of the best ones in the world). We have to make the world depend on us (like the petrol countries do with us now) for alternative energy knowledge and applications and then kick that stupid Cole out of business!!! But like mentioned before we can not kill the Cole now. That would be shooting ourselves in the foot and possibly the heart!
