As some of you may know the government is going to filter all internet traffic, like China and Saudi Arabia.

This is about your freedom to obtain unfiltered information.

I encourage you to read what the community is saying here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/100?g=175

And then tell your friends, cos the government's going to sneak it in, and once it's in it aint ever going out.

If the powers that be have decided on it already I don't think there is any way the people can stop it.

It is important enough to warrant a referendum but governments on both sides fear referendums more than anything because historically issues taken to referendum rarely ever get up.

Gradually, gradually, gradually the freedoms that characterise a true democracy are being eroded away.

I might have to suffer it but I will never get used to it.

A society that is prepared to sacrifice a little liberty for a little order will lose both and will have deserved neither.

I tend to agree with what Cisco said, and wonder when and where it will all stop, but we deserve what we get in many ways, cause none of us (including me) are really prepared to go out of our way and do anything about it.

Email your local federal member. Also the minister and shadow minister for communications. It takes no more effort than it does to post something here (but by all means do that as well). You'd be surprised, they DO take some notice, especially as we get closer to elections. If you are lucky enough to be in a marginal seat you can bet your local member will be taking notice and making loud noise where it counts.

One of the most mis-quoted quotes on the internet. The actual quote is Ben Franklin;

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Hey Trant, You hit it on the head there!!! It all depends on which internet site you read and what you searched for... there are many experts that know nothing on the net... I am a prime example, you may be too???

I think ther may be 2 seperate quotes

maxm is right there, I wrote to my local member about the CPRS (carbon tax) and was pleasantly surprised to get a response not only from him, but from Penny Wong also. I will be honest and say they gave me the usual political comments that dont really say anything, but at least I know someone there got my message, albeit temporarily. If we all let them know, they cant ignore things.
