The Fishing vessel Abel Tasman ........ Had no intention of ever catching fish here. They will however win the legal stoush and " recover costs " from us . Thanks to the decision making process of our representatives .
A nice way to earn wages for a few years without having to get splashed or covered in fish guts.
HHmmmm, that's a pretty big and expensive boat to sail to Australia and have sitting in a port for a few months (is it still there?) not operating. Plus the "opportunity cost" ie what it would be earning if active somewhere else that has been lost. And not to mention the total PR disaster the whole thing was for large scale fish companies - I suspect that more than a few people watched the whole saga and either reduced their fish intake or downloaded the sustainable fish guide after seeing this go down.
