How can I make sure I get chosen from the panel on the day. Any good suggestions?

Hope you lucky number comes up. Don't wear a three piece suit or a T-shirt saying "F#CK the pigs, they are fascists"

Do I remember correctly that you are an engineer? NO CHANCE! You will be challenged before you even leave your seat.

The last thing a lawyer wants in a court room is reason or common sense.

I don't know, but my mother seems to be good at it. She got chosen three times, and I have never even heard from them.

Maybe you need to look like a person that is 'typical' and listens well.

On the upside, mum got to learn all about the growth and cultivation of marijuana, and what equipment is required and so on.

So its educational too

you'll regret it once you get on their list. I had to apply for a 3 year relief from duty , i got pulled so many times.
some cases are sad, some make you want to laugh in court, got told off for that.
on 1 case i asked to be excused as I had had a busy weekend and would almost certainly fall asleep ,. judge told me off and explained that such frivolity wasnt acceptable in court. Around mid afternoon i got a warning to stay awake and next day had to be prodded by a jury member to wake me up.

so dont be so quick to volunteer.

I've never been called up though it sounds as much fun as licking razor blades.

Since when has an engineer used either reason or common sense?

If you get a good case it can be a bit of fun. I sat on one and the guy was the biggest stooge, he was sooooo guilty.

Bad ones can be very traumatic. A friend sat in on a rape case. Never spoke of it and I doubt he ever will.

Appear stupid and vague, don't offer up any opinions.
