www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/"Be kind to newcomers.
Newcomers may be annoying. They ask the wrong questions, including ones that seem obvious (or whose answers seem easy to find). But lots of valued contributors started out this way, and treating newcomers kindly makes them more likely to turn into the valuable community members we all know and love (and cut some slack when they mess up).
So while you don't have to humor them or suffer them gladly, and it's fine to point out when they make mistakes, point newcomers in the right direction in addition to turning them away from the wrong ones, and be kind to them in the process of correcting their transgressions.I was possibly a bit harsh in my initial judgement...albeit deserved. In retrospect, I would like to respond in a more positive tone, more in kind of the attitude of the majority of the members here who welcome new peope to this forum, and perhaps even give some (in my opinion) educational advice, so here goes...
...when introducing yourself to a new audience, perhaps start with some form of 'inclusive' discussion - like;
"Hello, I'm new to seabreeze...I love being on the water, and windsports are my passion! I thought I'd like to join your remarkably famous fraternity of intelligent and comedic members, and perhaps share some of my passions, and positive energy with you....."
and please, save the negative opinions for later.
p.s. can't wait for the second instalment of wisdom...
