You would be one of those who takes the four weeks leave... Long service... pay rates....sick leave.... superannuation....workplace safety.... all without a blink I suppose. I at least am respectful and grateful for past efforts.
Am no huge fan of unions, but give it some thought as to what you believe the blue baggers passage to its party ranks. Same bloody crap, just a blue ribbon instead of a red one.
Greens the same same.
You vote for a local member of what ever preference, not some clown who you never touch base with, and has no influence on your slant locally.
Actually I'm not, I'm one of the many small business owners who forgoes all of that to make sure I can provide it for my staff. As much as the union movement started with those aims, having thugs outside of building sites collecting dues is a recipe for corruption. In this day and age all of that is legislated and if people want to improve it they should get involved in a peaceful way, not with the heavies. Workplace safety; no worker should have to do any dangerous job and it should be administered by worksafe with criminal penalties, the idea of some union boss saying, 'we'll allow our members that level of danger if you give us more money' is crazy.
And I do respect the efforts of the past, but I'm more of a Ghandi man than a Kevin Reynolds fan.
Superannuation, this is a tricky one as although it sounds great in principle, Hawke and Keating offloaded what should be a state responsibility back to the worker. So in the old days at least a poor worker had a state pension and the richies were means tested out of it. Now the rich have fabulous super and the poor will have sweet FA. It's relatively worse for the poor as their meagre contributions get eaten up in fees, and I know I am poor!
The Liberal Party system is different, anybody can just turn up and join and be immediately involved, whereas the union/labor system does have more intimidation and really is run by the union heavies, plus they have all that union money that they have basically extorted out of workers by not giving them a choice not to join. (No ticket, no start).
Greens I am just not happy with, they are meant to be the balance of power and getting green concessions out of the Govt of the day, like Don Chip used to do, now they are adding to the hate, "Whatever it takes to stop Abbott", **** where's our choice to send a green message if your just the labor party, should be "Whatever it takes to save the environment".
And local member and local slant, that's not right at all and leads to pork barrelling, what's the point of say Vaucluse getting a new bike path when there are aborigines without health care. I think the voting public is a lot more compassionate than the pollies give them credit for, just none of them are campaigning that way.
