1: Change welfare policy to: work for the dole

2: Provide free birth control (the slow release for 12 months type) for all teens between 12-25

3: Start looking for a new job: The McDonalds Red Head Clown could use an update!

If I was Julia's Puppet Master, 3 things I'd do:

- Retire and handover the reins to Christine Milne. It's her turn now.
- Spend more time with Paul.
- Re-visit my love of photogrpahy and bushwalking...

Oh, hang on...

Why is Australia so hard on this woman? she has managed to govern in very tricky circumstances and has got a mountain of legislation through with the "we're good at throwing mud and saying that this is the worst government ever but our policies either don't exist ,are uncosted or are crap"opposition parties continually carping at her . It seems that she has made the mistake of getting the murdoch press offside ,is a red head"ranga" (I despise that word it is almost as bad as n....r)woman with a pointy nose ,big bum and funny voice ,and is a lousy salesperson .

I am pretty sure that Barrie Cassidy said a while back that if she had have come clean on the Carbon tax and said "yes I did say there would be no carbon tax under a government that i lead but when I said that I did not envision a hung parliament and so therefore circumstances changed and by the way the opposition support the same targets as we do re carbon emissions and maybe you should ask them a bit more about their scheme that they would have had to implement if they had have formed government but the cross benches decided was crap along with most people in the world and that just about everything else they planned just didn't add up" then she and Labour wouldn't be in the mess they are now in poll wise .

Just as a side comment didn't lil Johnny Howard say "never ever " to the GST ? yes I know he went to an election on it and almost lost (I'm glad he did but it should have been higher and on everything ,but hey he had to do a deal with the cross benches of the time ,ie compromise to get the bulk of what he wanted to do across the line ) but the Tampa refugees chuckin their kids overboard thing saved him.(which turned out to be untrue)

I didn't see/hear the full budget but did catch 2 things...
1. the budget will be in surplus
2. we are increasing the 'allowable' debt from $250 billion to $300 billion
Did I hear correct????

Surely that is like promising to pay off your credit card at the same time as upping the limit?

I agree, Floaty, (big surprise huh). But don't forget there is a huge dislike of The PM .......because she's a woman. It happened to Bligh in Queensland as well.

Gillard got no respect from the commercial media and that disrespect has just snowballed to the point where most unthinking Australians are lining up to tear her to pieces.

It's pretty sad I reckon. It's like we've turned into a nation of seagulls and one of them is injured and the rest are just going to peck it to pieces.

At times like these I remember my dads pronouncement on us..."Australia is a first rate country populated by second rate people" .....I can't possibly believe he's right though.

I don't like the PM because I have fundamental objections to her ideals, and I don't trust liars.

Bligh ran a dirty campaign. Focussed on the man, not the policies. You see how that worked out for her? How many seats did the Labs win, was it 6 or 7? Maybe you should think about it... But, I do enjoy your feather sword tickling...

So you don't trust liars ,c'mon that one is gettin a lil tired isn't it? why anyone is buyin the Jooliar line is beyond me (As Jesus said he who hath not sinned may cast the first stone ) Isn't it time the booomers grew up and stopped thinkin about themselves and stopped listening to ALan Jones and his fellow boneheads .
I think "well its because she's a woman" line that no one likes her is wearing thin too .Anna Bligh was elected and then turfed irrespective of whether she was a woman . As I said before Julia and the Labor party have made alot of marketing mistakes and pissed the Murdoch press off so she is fair game just like lil Johnny was when he was in opposition for an eternity with challengers everywhere and with his funny glasses ,funny eyebrows and silly voice ,then something changed somehow.

Australia has got an ageing population. And all I hear is pensioners and old people complaining.

I'd like to live in a world where old people, who have lost the will to live, who are tired of listening to Mark_Australia and Logman being given the opportunity to choose an exit.

The way we are going we are going to have millions of baby boomers living miserable lives to 120.

What if the gov't offered them an exit pill at 85 or 90yo and say to them - that there are no right and wrong answers if you decide not to swallow it?

Mr float, I'm sorry that you feel that way. I have disagreed with many of the decisions the labour government have made even back to good ol Kevin. The fact that she is a woman has nothing to do with my opinion of her.

Yes she gets a verbal bashing but I think that is because people lost respect for her through her actions as pm and the distrust that we have seen from the public of their leaders.

Labour has only governed us through a recession because of the hard and unpopular decisions made by the liberal government. Yes Johnny was a cunning little bugger, but you have to respect his ability as a politician. And it really got to me when they gave Wayne swan the best treasurer in the world award. He got that for australias position through the recession which basically was built on the work of Peter Costello! I would be ashamed if I was him to have that sitting on my mantle.

I'm regards to jooliar, I think she has set back women in the PM seat for years to come which is really sad as I would have liked to see another female prime minister as they seem to be able to make the hard and unpopular decisions which sometimes a country needs (read margret thatcher for that one.... )

Unfortunately, because of Jooliar, some of the older generation and people who are sexist, will put her inability to govern down to the fact she is a woman which is not fair.

Basically she is a pawn and the very definition of a pink shirt: someone who was put in place after they killed off the old leader and whom is different and people wont have a go at her because they will be dazzled by the gimmick of our first female PM!

I do believe that she has done the best she can but I don't believe that she is right for the job because of her inabilities as a leader.

Gimme a break .I hated PK when he and Hawkie ran the show . "The recession we had to have " line and that recession and the high interest rates infuriated me and my family and friends suffered . looking back tho they/he laid the foundation for the following boom .I'll give Lil Johnnie and Pete their due .they got PK's GST up but they squandered much of the wealth with middle income vote buying welfare for which I can't forgive them .
Jooliar hasn't done the best she can do .She is a politician and there are constraints, and she is human plus in order to be in power she will take whatever it takes .Have any of us done the best that we can do? .Perhaps reflect on JFK's words "Ask not what ........" (we all know the rest but perhaps we should reflect on those words and how we look out on the nation/world beyond our own selfishness)
What concerns and annoys me is that the Aussie sport of Pollie bashing and holding pollies to account has for some strange reason taken a one sided approach.

I just don't think your right about the "pawn" Idea. Gillard was a shining star in the Labour opposition and an absolute star in Parliament in Government as deputy. She wasn't "put in place", she deserved the opportunity. No Gimmick, she was clearly the best candidate.

And "her inability to govern". I don't get that either. This has been THE most productive government I can remember for a long time . Even considering the difficult status of the independents and the numbers in the opposition, the amount of legislation that has been passed through both houses has been excellent. There have been some ground breaking and far reaching policies implemented including the disability insurance scheme ,the reforms to the aged care area, the withdrawal plans for Afgahnistan, the dental scheme, carbon pricing etc etc.

Now Weather you agree with those policies is one thing but as a matter of fact you can't say, "failure to govern"

Hmmmm, I wonder what happens to industries in Australia when you spend money in the economy?

I also wonder what happens to industries in the economy when you stop spending money?

Blame the general population for voting in a larger number of Greens. I wonder if they would do it a second time? They probably would, as depending on your perspective, it might have been a good thing.

Mr Float and Log Man,

To be diplomatic about this, I will state the facts as I see them.

You guys have judged our current government to have governed well and I have judged them to rule poorly and disagree with alot of their economic policies.

The original dispute was over Mr Float believing that I had a go at her because she is a woman which I have stated before that is not the case and am in favour of having women in the PM seat.

I also agree with you that PK was a bit of a let down but I think Bob Hawke did a better job than you give him credit for.

At the end of the day, we either like or dislike the values, policies and decisions of our politicians and are in an environment where being able to debate these differences in opinion are accepted.

I will accept that you have been provided with information that leads you to the conclusion that Julia has governed well, however from my own information that I have been provided, I have judged her to have governed poorly.

Cheers,

If this is true the Lib/Nats under Howard were a bunch of traitors and liars too. Howard forced Australia into some stupid war on a adjective where plenty of Australian soldiers have been killed and injured for nothing. Not too many industries were started when Howard was PM besides a few advertising companies that made ads telling us how awesome the government was with taxpayer money.

I will just say that I agreed with Johnny sending us into the war as this decision was not based on wether it was right or wrong to go to war, if we needed to send our guys in to save people in abother country.... The decision was based on a free trade agreement that was struck with the U.S by the Libs and the Bush administration which allowed us to prospe as a country to the point of being able to ride out the recession.

Unfortunatley we had to aquire this by going to war and submitting our troops to someone elses fight, but this decision I think was in the best interest of Australia to secure a srong trade agreement for our future.

I may be wrong but theres no point in debating what should have been done or not done.

What we should be doing now is implementing a strategic plan to get out of there whilst enabling the local people to maintain a stable and safe government.

These arguments will go on ad infinitum, or at least until such time as people wake up. Government is there to keep things the way they are, not to effect change.

The red team borrows money from the folk that create it out of thin air. The blue team ensures that we pay it back. All the issues are about money, all of them. The majority of crime is about money. Damage to the environment is about money.

Money is about control and the people who control the money control the system.

We have democracy on the day that we go to the polls. That day only. Then everything swings back to the way it was.

^^^ My kids have gone from a dodgy, dingy, dark portable stuck along a fence on the outskirts of their small rural school (<100 kids) with near zero heating & no cooling - into an open, well-ventilated classroom, albeit still slightly pre-fab in appearance. It now houses 3 classrooms with a central open area. I'm sure their learning is more enjoyable now, therefore I'd expect that it improves their education and makes it a more 'bearable' environment for the teachers also.
