quote from NSW wavesailing website "Saturday December 2nd sees the Celebration of Windsurf Day at Kyeemagh on Sydney's Botany Bay. There will be a BBQ, buy & sell, racing and a freestyle comp with cash and prizes. Come along and support - it was a load of fun last year. The official flyer gives the rest of the details."
Im hoping to attend this sounds like fun. As I attend many vintage car swap meets I was looking forward to my first in sailboard swaps,.
I'm looking forward to finding some bits and pieces to finish off some of my old gear that is missing some bits.Mast bases.tracks, center boards etc.At least get them usable again. Dont know if Id take anything to get rid of as I might prefer to enjoy a day of buying.
hope they bring thier stuff along.I'm looking to buy.
perhaps more people will bring bits and pieces to swap meet If I remind them....Im looking forward to finding treasures at the swap.
Ps. can any one explain where exactly the car park is located....yes I have seen the map but no car park is shown and am unsure how to get in there without ending up on one of those damn motorways back into city.
I have been to see sailing there once via lights in Bestic St but found no car park.I parked along edge of road and saw a dirt track down to bay where everyone was rigging.
Is there a car park at other end of this old part of The Grande Parade on which I had parked off Bestic St.
Or is it up further north off O'dea Ave..if so does O'dea Ave come under the bridge from other side of General holmes drive.
I plan to come in from the south around the bay...Im thinking its the last right turn at lights into Bestic St before getting stuck on bridge and major highway back into city.. ? or should I turn left at Bestic St to get access to O'dea Ave and go under brige..is that correct.
Although i live in sydney I sail up central coast as its easier to get to from sydney's west.
I imagine there are others uncertain about this actual car park... I was just going to get to Bestic St,hoping that was it?
The car park is just north of Bestic street. You can only get into it from the General Holmes Drive Southbound, being an entrance just before teh bestic st junction.
If you are coming from the south it is probably easiest to go to Bestic/Grand Parade and park there. The 100m walk will do you good, and unless you buy tonnes of stuff will be an easy walk back.
Or else you could drive past to the Foreshore drive, chuck a U turn and drive back into the carpark.
Thats great i had saw on the map a little offshoot road from grand parade that I thought might be an isolated car park..and realised that I would have to come from over the bridge to get to that. It makes sense now so I appreciate your kind reply.
after posting this question I turn up on Sunday expecting the swap meet only to find out that it was Saturday...my mistake...somehow had in my mind Sunday....damn it sounded good too....oh well still bought some gear from a guy who turned up to sell something a little later on...but there you go shows I cant even absorb the answers I received to my question.damn
Anyway talked to a lot of guys asking if anyone had any mast bases for old longboards...no they didnt but It gave me an excuse to chat. it was great to see the sailing...it was the first time Ive seen that many sailers in one spot...great.
oh ps the mast base is for an Alpha 200 AF longboard..has a 23mm diameter base pin ...yes very wide with a groove for locking pin at 5mm from top...just incase anyones got a weird base hanging round..
