I'm thinking about getting one depending on the plans that the phone companies come up with. I like the big touch screen
Any tech heads out have any opinions good or bad ?

No idea, never had one, but just a minute ago as I was browsing the news on my lunch break I saw this:

http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,25642,23908338-5016091,00.html

If it really doesn't have all that stuff, as reported by the article, you wouldn't catch me buying one.

Meh, my $100 phone makes phone calls, text, has a phonebook and a calendar. That's all I ever use.

If I saw someone with an iPhone I'd think they were a sucker... but then I think most people are that anyways so don't listen to me. Also I'm in IT so after 5 I hate tech stuff.

Maddox sums it up best concerning the original iPhone

I have to agree that I would probably be waiting for a couple of revisions first before I went out and bought one.

however ...

The pricing, if right, is hard to beat. Currently the iTouch 16Gb Ipod is about 5-600 bucks, its basically an iPhone without the phone.
the iPhone 16Gb is $300 - go figure. Even if you dont want the phone, its the cheapest comparable iPod on the market.

Ive seen and used one in the flesh. It was a mate's. They are pretty cool as the multimedia and email capabilities are great.

Unless you use it for more than just phonecalls they are probably just a fashion accessory.

Riders does lack abit of fashion sense, so it would be perfect for him

From a design and operating perspective the Iphone is unbeatable. It uses the Macs OS, looks great etc etc. But it all depends on what you want and need. It is definitely missing features that have been standard on phones for a few years e.g video, sending MMS etc The camera is only 2mp.. My 4 year old phone sends MMS, does video and has a 2mp camera, so this is definitely not a state of art gadget with all the fruit as far as technology is concerned. Pretty disappointing really. I do think it looks good and I'd buy it for the music/video alone because I watch a lot of movies on my IPOD video which is a bit small. But for someone wanting a feature loaded all in one phone/ipod/blackberry tool then this is not the best on the market. Sony and Nokia have better ones, they just don't look as good :)

I think its just handy to have an ipod in a phone, so then you dont have to carry ya ipod everywhere.

But i think ill be waiting for 2nd or 3rd generation!
