Check out the activity happening close to Australia in the last few weeks on
ds.iris.edu/seismon/

I have been studying the earthquake and its effects closely as many of you probably have.

Although nothing exceptionally strange is happening compared to the entire violent history of our planet and its unique formation, something that may affect us greatly is going on with more and more Earthquakes and aftershocks crumbling away on our plates.

The Nicobar/Andaman islands and Aceh are being battered constantly (zoom in and have a look) and large quakes are trembling all over the intersections of the Pacific, Australian , Eurasion and Phillipine plates. News reports daily of large earthquakes and people fleeing their houses and towns in fear. Check the frequency and size of the last 30 big ones and look where they are enarly all occuring. ds.iris.edu/seismon/last30days.phtml

Also reading the Sunday Times last weekend, a so-called expert warned of a Tsunami coming for Perth, with water levels reaching Marine Parade in Cottesloe and submerging Mandurah, Bunbury, Busselton and Dunsborough. He stated that the previous Tsunami would have devastated us had it had a mirrored orientation - that is the brunt of the quake travelled north-south instead of from the south to the north.

We had 6 or so Oarfish washup on our beach last week - Front page of the West Australian. To the Japanese (seasoned Tsunami and Earthquake Culture) these fish are a very Bad Superstitious Omen for an coming Earthquake or Tsunami. Also over 1500 Giant squid averaging over 1.5m washed up on California beaches. Funny thing was not one animal activist or liberator got a bucket of water and a blanket for the poor squid and try to push em back out. Different thing if it were one whale.

They say the Earths' magnetism is doing strange things, with mobile phones going crazy and some people saying in certain areas that birds were flying into brick walls and animals behaving eratically before the December Tsunami.

All I know is this...

I can only believe what I can see, and I have my eyes open all the time for the warning signs.

I'm not gonna rely on warning systems, Graphs or bull**** news reports. Im gonna look myself. The signs are everywhere if you look yourself.

Do you think they would be stupid enough to warn people and cause mass panic and anarchy, loss of all CONTROL - Heck the amount of people that died in December was immediately replaced with all the babies born within 3 hours around the world.

As Windsurfers and Kitesurfers or whatever you are we know the water better than most. Most people cower inside during a 30knt storm where as we'll be on the water.

If you see some strange events happening, don't go CRAZy, just be cautious and think rationally, because life isn't really about money, or cars or houses or social status - Its about Surivavl, something which many of us are forgetting how to do because our lives are being run by the government and everyone else.

I'd rather act than be one of the losers that are too narrow minded to think it can't or won't happen. Tell that to all those people on the beach that fateful day. A flip of a coin and it might have been you filming a tidal wave while down the beach with your camera.

That said (Phew!)

Why Cant We have some kind of natural wind disaster where the whole world starts blowing constant 20-30kt winds due to some unkown phenomenom. Earthquakes, Tsunamis and Asteroids have become tired. The earth would descend into a real crisis because no-one would go to work.

Ok, I re-read it and the tone is kind of dismal(I could blame the lack of wind)

I just thought that the IRIS Seismic Monitor is a good resource for info, and you guys might like to see it.

All I'm saying is I just want to be ready for something like that to happen. Don't you?

People warned about Sep 11 and no-one listened till it happened.

Who do you want to be - the people that sat in the planes and accepted their fate unsure of what was going on as they flew into the buidings.

-or the people that had the balls and the brains to look around and act on what THEY saw and try to get control of the plane back.

If I see the tide receeding like never before while I'm windsurfing or anytime, then I'm gonna act and try to save lives - like many did in December. They too were mocked and called "paranoid" and crazy. But many of the people who listened ran to higher ground and these Crazy people, one from Australia, were hailed as heroes through common sense.

Now I know it probably won't happen, but the warnings are out there, and I never ever thought it was possible here.

Have an open mind and Tell the Sunday Times, West Australian and those stupid Tsunami and Earthquake experts to stop printing crap stories and put some articles about windsurfing there instead.

OK so say your sailing and your about 400m offshore and the current suddenly starts to quickly suck out, What do you do??? if you head to shore your going to have to try and run through 400m of boggy wet sand before you even get to the dry beach sand, I don't reckon you'd make it ....or.. you sail out to sea with the current to meet this wall of white water even if you get enough speed to get over it I thinks it's just going to suck you backwards (I've gone over plenty of big lumps of frothy white water that have pulled me backwards while still sailing)hmm interesting senario

Life is all about money and social status. I guess your a student living on a loan.
Lives run by the government, at the moment my life is being run by this voice that keeps telling me to jump up and down evreytime i hear the word neighbour. Most inconvenient at mass on sunday. I'm Sure the neighbours are in on it too, b***ards. The government well let me tell you governements are controlling your every thought they are watching your every move, in fact your girlfriend, or in your case pet is actually a spy for the KGB and will soon be reporting your activities with green vegtables to the russian government who in turn will look very closely at the shoes you wear and believe me if they are the wrong brand your dead.

Damn shoes, I knew I should have got the other ones.

But its alright. I got help. All the guys here in white coats said that they won' let Russia get me, and they gave me a special white suit with tied up arms to protect me.

They gonna put me in a safe room with no windows and furniture where no-one can hurt me.

Windpasser,
I can see where you're coming from.
Life is about survival, not about the latest plasma TV or the newest mobile phone that you think you need and must have now!

What you are saying to the crew(if I may be so bold) is this;
Wake up, open your eyes and smell the seaweed! We have five senses,(taste, touch, smell, sound and sight), so use them!

We had a sixth sense once(that being intuition) but unfortunately the majority of us have lost the power of it. (Females excluded).

When I observe crew down at the beach with their wind-meters held high and their mobile phones dialed into web-sites checking windspeed, I have a little chuckle to myself.
Just look at the sand lying on the beach, if the grains are just starting to move with the wind it's probably around 18-20. Learn to read cloud formations, feel the humidity(or lack of) in the air, it all means something when relating to wind.

And when you pack the car in preparation for that big surf trip, just go with your gut feelings. Don't over-analyse the weather forecasts, it really takes away all the spontaneity, excitement and fun of the whole experience.

Luck has a huge bearing on what happens in our lives.

flatus :

2. Wind or gas generated in the stomach or other cavities of the body. --Quincy.

tsunami's are the last thing perth people should be worried about.
The only fault line near us is the darling fault line which hasn't been active for many many thousands of years. (and is not underneath water hence could not cause a tsunami).
I'd say relax a bit windpasser. Perth/WA is in one of the most geologically stable parts of the earth.
