Was it addressed to Austria. I heard someone made a real killing in 2000 by taking a container load of Olympic memorabilia to Austria and selling it to the Yanks who arrived in droves looking for the Olympic games.

I know you're joking but I wouldn't actually be surprised.

Funny you should say that... My bike is a KTM, and a recent conversation went like this:
"Ah, KTM. Is that a Suzuki?"
"No it's made by KTM. The company is KTM."
"So, where is it from?"
"Austria."
"Australia?"
"No, AUS-TRI-A."
"Ah so, Australia."
"No no, Austria. It's near Germany. In Europe."
"No it isn't. Australia is in the Pacific."
"..."
"Down the bottom near New Zealand."
"Yeah you're right?gosh, how wrong I've been!"

So there is a guy in Oz and his real name is Kamikuza?

Lucky him.

I envisage a guy on a green sports motorcyle who rides it towards WW2 battleships in the hope of destroying them but losing his own life in the process.

It depends on the shop. I bought some specialised fins from a well known shop in the USA (SSports I think) a few years back. They advertise that they don't keep your credit card details on file.

A year or two later a credit card charge shows up on my account, and it was for fins sent to someone with a similar name (or the same, I can't remember) in a different state. I don't know how they did this if they supposedly never kept the card details and the names were different. I am guessing that they didn't write the order down and just guessed the address. I don't know how they would do that in these days of computers. Its easier to print things out than write them.

So from my own experience, with some shops, it's certainly possible.

I don't know about doppelgangers but someone with the potentially the same name got a prepaid phone which was linked to my account. So I guess he had the same date of birth and address as me too!

I never did Stats at school, but I'm pretty sure you have to take into account how common first and last names are, and the combination; then how many of that lot could potentially be kiters.

I give up - I might just ride my bike into a big grey boat after all

Well, you never told us your name, you never told us what you ordered ... how are we supposed to know if you have a doppelganger in Oz let alone know whether you have one on here???

I don't mind telling you my name, but it might upset the other guy. Can't be too many people in Oz who're getting a package from a kite shop then have to send it on to Japan....

You (they) want to hope he's honest then. I'm not sure I would want to go through the hassle of sending something on if it was difficult. If a courier came and collected it is one thing, but sending it myself is a different story.

You mean, the STORE wants to hope they're honest.

Y'all not do karma in Oz then?
