It's a great idea, can't wait to see them try to put it into practise though.

I moved around a fair bit as a kid, but one place I lived the kids (alright, me too) were drinking Southern Comfort on the weekend at 11, and some kids were getting stoned regularly at that age too (not me, didn't start that until at least 15). Can't see ciggies being any different, if the kids want em they'll get em.

btw - times have changed but the first time I went out drinking I was 14, and I sat up at a bar in the mall at surfers paradise with a 16yr old mate and got absolutely mangled on many things, finishing with 4 or 5 tequilas.

My point in sharing this is - when you're a kid you say to yourself "adults are so stupid, so out of touch, they don't know 1/4 of the **** I get up to, don't become one of them when you're that age, REMEMBER what it's like, be cool. " Kids grow up fast, we did, and we're here talking about it.

How to prevent them starting smoking? I don't have a good answer to that.

My dad cleaned my room out when he found out I was smoking, I came home and all my stuff was in the dirty stinkin wheelie bin. Didn't stop me smoking, so I would suggest that route doesn't work.

And chewing gum. Oh yes garlic too(smells worse than smoke on someone's breath)
What else can we add to the list?
Spitting... That's a good one.

Cigarettes drugs and alcohol are still helping to prove Darwin's theory today. You abuse them you die. The weak do not survive. Sure some smokers/ heavy drinkers live to a ripe old age but most die a horrible painfull slow death, their choice.
Banning smoking aint gonna work. Prohibition proved that. Can't see what year you were born in makes any difference to your decision to smoke or not.
Its your choice and your consequenses.
Just stop my exposure to second hand smoke by banning it in public areas and smokers can keep killing themselves all they like.
Natural selection is a wonderfull thing and there for a good reason.

Ban them completely I reakon.
I know you will still be able to buy them under ground, but then they will have to pay $200 a pack to slowly kill themselves.
And if its illegal, surely we all wont have to pay for all the weak willed deros medical bills?
If anyone still smokes in this day n age must be pretty stupid.

My dad (who was a smoker then) let me smoke one of his Winnie Reds when I was about 7 or 8. I was prancing about asking him and he said OK but once its lit its yours to finish... after the first puff I thought I was the shizzle, then he said I had to draw it in... OMFG I coughed my ring up and handed it back.. to which the pr1ck said "remember, once its lit its yours to finish" And I smoked it... and threw up numerous times in the shower. Didnt touch another fag until I was... about 15 so it kinda worked.

Funny thing, my mother did the same when I was about 5 or 6 probly, except just got me to take 1 big drag. I ran around coughing and started crying, she had to break out the lollies to fix it. I didn't want to go near them.. till I hit about 15 too, then I started and didn't stop for 15 years.

So worrier, based on a sample of 2, I'd say that's not a good plan either.

There ya go a comptrehensive survey of breezers has proved that exposing a child to cigarettes will not stop him from smoking later in life.
I will get these findings published in a medical journal one day.

Ban completely and prohibit!. Pornography is a much healthier addicition, links to Redtube should be distributed to all ex smokers to alleviate cravings.

BTW i have no affiliation or connections with Redtube, i just heard about it on the forum.

No, didnt really do much smoking at 15 either... just the odd drag.
Didnt start drinking until 17
From 22 onward mostly other leafy plants...

Dad quit as well.

As for the original strategy... if you dont start I guess you wont miss it
