He should be arrested for making a really crappy piece of software.

+1,000,000...I had McAfee antivirus a few years ago...I still contracted virus' and when I contacted them they refused to assist...I didnt renew and they kept hounding me...I just use Windows defender and a bit more common sense.

I hate it when we have to do an Adobe reader update and it always wants to install McAfee by stealth on my PC....Hope they hang the b$st$rd.

His bloatware killed millions of windows PC's, I hope he rots the rest of his life in a third world prison, do you think he may have contracted a computer virus?

When I was in the computer support business about 10 years ago, I saw many people who had computer issues with McAfee and similar AV software.

The usual answer was to sell them Norton. Before you cringe this was in the pre bloatware phase of Norton or stick on AVG free. This was also in the pre bloatware time for AVG.

I've heard the commercial/corporate version of McAfee is fine.

Anyway this story shows even if you have money, which this bloke clearly has, you can still have trouble.

Nope their software is still crap, got it on all our work computers.

When it does an update you can forget about doing anything else for the next 10-15mins

Why anyone would pay for this bloatware is beyond me when the best security software is free from Microsoft, "Microsoft security essentials".
What this jerk did for pc's is unforgivable, karma is a bitch.

I haven't had any anti virus software for perhaps ten years. Most of that time was a PC. Never an issue. Go figure.

In all fairness guys, that's only his name on the current product. He pulled out of the product about 20 years ago. Pretty sure the bloat thing happened afterwards.

True,

McAfee was on the other hand telling anyone who would listen their computer would blow up because of a virus back in the early 90s. This is when the average computer cost about as much as a decent second hand car.

From news reports he sounds like a nutter however we only get one side of the story.
