This is the second time Ive been called up with in two years.

Seems funny that I have been recalled so quickly.

Not that I mind anyway it just seems strange as thought it was a random ballot.

Any thoughts

The roll in NSW used to be for 3 years with an average of one callup per year. I got put on the roll and, sure enough, got a letter every year. Luckily I never had to attend for whatever reason. After 3 years, my rotation expired and lo and behold! I get a letter telling me I've been randomly picked to be on the roll again.

Got through the next 3 years and had to attend once (I refused to go... I was self employed! Couldn't afford to take time out then. Better to pay the fine)

At the end of the 3 years my rotation expired and whaddaya know... my WIFE gets the call. By then they seemed to have given up on the 3 year thing but she did have to attend. After her it was my eldest son who, luckily, had moved out of my place. He told them he didn't live in the area and they removed him from the list. Since then, we've been left alone.

"Random"? My ar$e!

There can be an upside sometimes...

My mum has been called up for Jury Duty a few times and she was pretty happy when she was involved in a case where they were trying to prosecute a drug dealer/grower. (It didn't hurt that she was doing a boring job and got paid to sit on the jury.)

The most interesting thing about the case was that they had to educate the jury in all the normal means of growing marijuana and the things used, so they could argue that there was no other reasonable explanation for what they found. She thought it was very educational :)

Recently I received a letter advising that the Parramatta local court now can call me up for jury duty. My employer also advised if we get called up then we must pay any money received to them.

I think once you are on the list, know you are available and are not a complete idiot then there is a fair chance they will call you up again.

sat on a case where a bloke attacked 5 coppers and we actually let him off.
it became obvious that most of the coppers hurt each other in the melee, with 1 officer using 3 cans of pepper spray.
the old sargeant just stood off to one side and watched.
also had one where the kids broke into a fish and chippee, instead of the liqour store next door.
when the coppers arrived they pepper sprayed the whole interior of the chippee and sat back to let the kids come out.
the funny cases are the stress relief for the odd bad case.
you also get to see which of the lawyers are good , bad , or really incompetent, might come in handy one ay

I must of been on the jury duty hit list. When my wife and I were first married I got called up so often I reckoned it was not 3 times bad luck but about 9!!!
I kept having to rock up to the local courts in Sydney and go through the whole bull**** process. Work was cool but I had to pay them the allowances, fair enough.
I did the time, got called onto a jury with a feral accused of burning down a house he had robbed to hide the crime. Totally guilty but some bleeding heart reckoned it was his parents fault for not loving him enough. As usual , slap on the wrist. Go home.
Found out many years later that my ex-fiancee whose old man was a high up cop made sure my name kept going back into the lottery. Made an official complaint and have never been contacted again, touch wood[}:)]

Yes. And yes, my understanding is that the electoral roll is where they draw the names from.

36 & never been called up! (and yes, enrolled).

Young guy @ work (20yo) got called into a multiple molestation/rape case last year...pics & kids' testimony screwed him up a bit, had to take an extra couple of weeks off & still is a bit edgy over it - found the guy guilty, locked up for a long time.

Got called up on Melbourne cup day for jury duty only the second time for me, same day as my sister who has a different surname. We turned up but didn't get picked
Lots of people didn't turn up and the judge handed out $350 fines.

I got called up once and was selected for two cases.
One was assault with a dog involved and the other drink riding ( bike ) causing death.
Both heavy sh-t, I must have done a crap job because
I have never been called up again and that was many
years ago.
