I've never been a political person until this ****** moved into office. Who voted for him anyway?? I know I didnt and everyone I know or talked to didn't.

There must be a lot of people working in construction, health and the police I guess.

Fuel prices I can handle. Groceries going up and up, well that annoys me a bit!

Interest rates, well my loans are fixed for a few more years so that hasnt bothered me yet.

But beer taxes again!! That did it for me. This guy gets my golden knob jockey award 2008.

Now he's bringing in this stupid carbon tax. 15% increase in electricity prices

I really do feel sorry for the poor aussie family only bringing in $60,000 a year, feeding 3 kids, a car and a $200,000 morgage.

I think this joke pretty much sums it all up:

2 crocodiles were lying near the lake.
Bob looks up at Geoff and says: "eh Geoff, how come your twice the size I am?"
Geoff says: "I dont know, whats your diet"
Bob replies: "Politicians, same as you. I eat 2 a day, the same as you. We are the same age and drink the water from the same lake"
Geoff says: "I'm not sure? where do you catch your pollies and how do you get them?"
Bob replies: "I wait near their Holden Caprice, then as they are about to unlock their car door I jump out and grap them. I shake the sh!t out of them and eat them up"
Geoff says: "ah ha, there's your problem right there, your not getting any nutritional value. After you shake the sh!t out of a politician, all that's left is a briefcase and an a$$hole"

Fair go Walsh, the bloke has done more in 8-9 mths than the previous 'Give the public anything they will vote for and bugger the long-term consequences' little gollum did in 10 yrs.

Kevo is the closest thing to a polli (from all walks of politics) with vision and forward thinking this country has seen since.... actually I can't think back that far??

His policies aren't always going to be luvvy duvvy with the masses, but are simply long, long overdue mate. Can't live in a 5bdrm x 3 bthrm bubble forever when the shinola is creeping up to your doorstep...

Also - at least Rudd doesn't get out in a fkn dkhead tracksuit doing the Gestapo march every morning... I'd vote on that alone!!

What has he honestly done apart from let all the greenies sleep better at night?

The money he gave to toyota for a flawed technology was a joke.

Right next door to my home we have a 30+ turbine wind farm that is only permitted to inject 30% of its total capacity into the grid??

If we are serious about reducing greenhouse gases then we need to invest into nuclear technology. I know I wont care if one is built in my back yard because they are a million times cleaner than current coal fired powerstations.

As far as I'm concerned, the only thing the Rudd governemnt has done is increase my cost of living by atleast 30%. And Taxes havent dropped or wages sure havent risen 30%

Just my 2 cents. I'm sure there are many others out there feeling the pinch. I guess you must be sitting nice and comfy financially there Funky??

Its true that prices seem to be going up while wages stay around the same. KRudd needs to do something positive.

For example the Murray Darling River. First KRudd has to do is to tell the states to STFU and get it into their thick heads its a national river. So if the rain falls on QLD that doesn't mean the water belongs to Queenslanders.

Second he says the Feds have put over a billion dollars on the table to save the river. What will save the river? More water. So buy out all the big irrigators, knock down the weirs and get some water flowing. Buy out the Cubbie Stations and release the water they hold. That will do a heap more than setting up a committee. We need more water supply so perhaps we should be building water pipes from the tropics down south. Look at a map, its all downhill.

Build a canal from the South Coast to fill up Lake Eyre with sea water. Its gotta be good to increase water vapour in the atmosphere and get more rain. Plus it would be great for fishing and other water sports. It gets pretty windy in the desert and also quite hot.

KRudd needs to stop being such a smarty pants, especially when the only thing he has done is put taxes up on grog. The Feds are swimming in cash while plenty of ordinary Aussies are doing it tougher and tougher.

If the economy goes bad, which it looks like its going to, the KRudd government will go down as a one term government.

Edit:
Its pretty stupid to start talking about new taxes when the economy is going down the gurgler. Less economic activity will reduce pollution anyway.

Cheers Mobydisc, thats the exact type of feedback I were looking for.

I know stuff all about politics, lets get that straightened out right now. But I'd love to be educated by all you guys with half a clue.

My opinion at the moment is the guy is a tosser. He claims he can save the world and have all the solutions for Australia's problems, when all I have seen so far is KRudd squeezing every last penny out of our pockets.

So far I have seen no action whatsoever!! just a tax hike and then a heap of bullsh!t to go along with it.

Then I turn the telly on last night, where KRudd is going to increase our electricity bills by 15-30% with a stupid carbon tax. And quess what? This will only lead to everything else costing more and more.
His answer to 'what actions are going to be put inplace to reduce greenhouse emmissions' was: we are going to conduct a national enquiry into what are suitable emmissions targets. He just side tracked the question with more political mumbo jumbo.

Please, educate me of what 'good' KRudd is doing for Australia. (apart from going on a tax payer's tour around the world with his fat mole of a wife)

Yeah I suppose this shouldn't be on here - but here goes anyway

The carbon trading system is going to be a killer for the mining industry. Other heavy carbon emitters like coal fueled power stations, Alcoa and the like get massive concessions - seems to defeat the purpose somewhat hence the greenies are upset too, but the mining and transport companies and middle sixed manufacturing are going to cop the lot. The transport industry also does not need any further cost burden - watch the price rises in all goods. Another problem is the carbon trading scheme, this allows speculators and finance houses to buy the permits and sell to highest bidder so that end-users of them will not only pay what is fair but also margins for these leeches. Hmmm the big winners out of this will be the banks/financiers and government - seems Cruddy is more aligned to certain big business than the labor origins would suggest.

Why a carbon trading system? just bring in a simple carbon tax that apllies to all industry on a level basis with concessions where really needed - the whole thing seems like another concocted tax with big benefits to certain lobby groups - without attempting to solve the real issue. This will kill manufacturing totally - where does Ruddy want Australia to end up - just finance houses and a few very big industrial giants - he is #$%ing over the economy with this one IMO.

RECESSION here we come.

Or alternatively we could just sit back and do nothing, and wait for the public to voluntarily sell thier w@nker tankers, stop over consuming energy and collectively screwing up the earth. I go for this option because its easy, doesnt raise my cost of living and I probably wont be around when it all comes to a head anyway.

Hi Rex, I'm all for a carbon/greenhouse gas tax (hope that this is proven the correct cause of climate change for everyones sake) - atleast it will clean up alot of the pollutants we are pumping out - but the carbon tax needs to be on a fair basis and not that creates another admin/financial jungle that will destroy middle level manufacturing (what we have left). It should be fair though and not enable financial houses to make massive profits off - this just increases the burden of the tax on those that incur it - a further shift of wealth from the producers to the financiers/speculators, hmmm very anti-labor charter. A simple carbon emmissions tax would avoid this - why the complicated mess they are promoting.

PS: Schools is still a long way out as to whether any carbon emmission decreases will help prevent climate change as there are so many other factors - everyone seems to be on the bandwagon that the climate we have enjoyed in our history is the norm for the planet and that there are no cycles outside of this - fools.

As the price of fuel goes up then people will naturally start looking for alternatives. I for one drastically changed my lifestyle a couple of years ago as I kind of expected the **** to hit the fan.

I sold my business which required a lot of driving and after a couple of job changes and moves, now live around 1km from my work and less than 500m from a major metro train station. So I walk to work and my wife catches the train.

Clearly when the economy goes down, economic activity reduces thereby reducing demand for energy and raw materials. This will do more to reduce emissions than any carbon tax. The fact is one of the only countries to easily surpass their Kyoto emission standards was Russia, only because their economy collapsed in the 90s.

An emission trading scheme will not reduce our temperatures by one tenth of a degree. All it will achieve will be to transfer wealth from the ordinary consumer and move it to the big end of town, the lawyers who setup the scheme and then get the big commissions plus the screen jokies who get their bonuses through trading carbon emission certificates. In the meantime real businesses will either suffer losses, decide to move overseas or shut up shop.

So yesterday the price of crude, dropped just over 6 bucks (US) overnight, our $ increased some 2c against the good ol green back over same period. And purchase of the black gold is always in US currency
That makes just over an 8 buck a barrel reduction in the price..................
How come we haven't yet seen any reduction at the pump, huh, how come.??
Well its because the economy of the Government of the day is addicted to the revenue its generating. We (Joe citizen) cant win, no matter what, or who is in government
