My mate - who hasn't done a lot of windsuring - saw a lot of kiters at Dolls Point on Saturday and asked me "why have they got shorts on? Is it for protection or warmth or do they think they look stupid in a wetsuit?" I couldn't answer his question and was hoping someone on Seabreeze could give me a sensible answer.

Thanks.

Ok, your responses have explained everything well enough.

I'm also guessing that Poor Relatives explanation also answers what would have been my second question - why have a middle/third strap?

Cheers

Extra straps are to support my phenominally huge cock.
It can be dis-advantageous having such a huge cock, however i have yet to discover why.

the prob that reli is yet to face/realise is that of how big a problem it is to make anything even remotely funny with a "huge cock" protruding from between your shoulders.
just jokes-keep up the dribble

Having the "ol fella" stuffed through the middle strap would be ok when going heelside, but wouldn't it cause problems with water forcing its way in when going toeside???????

Rumour has it that PR likes nothing more than a long slurp on some warm man-juice,
shared with his kite-betty Grumble after a sweaty sess.

i dunno, I'm reading and re-reading and I just cant seem to make the connection between humerous repartee about the size of one's manhood and being gay.

yes, he does seem obsessed with this whole gay thing ... probably never had any mates ............ in his whole life

ps, I missed the directive that said gay threads were no longer acceptable.

pps, I also assume, when he said "gay threads" he meant threads that are dumb... i.e. "this thread is gay!"

Most guys I know do it to prevent the harnesss wearing out their expensive wetsuit. Shorts are way cheaper than a good wettie.

I use the Dakine nitrous which is harness/shorts all in one and the most comfy kite harness I ever tried. But! Still is better with neoprene shorts/suit underneath for more comfort.

It is a long standing debate - and always will be.

unless you are wearing a seat harness then those boardies would need to be pulled up somewhere under your armpits to protect your wetsuit. surely a rashie works better? i think its a habit copied from the show pony world of wakeboarding, where its all about image

Got it in one. There is no practical reason at all to wear boardies over your wettie. I kitesurf and surf heaps. I have never worn a hole in a wetsuit from rubbing on a harness.

BTW. If you use a seat harness it's better to wrap your dick around your waist before you put your wettie on so it doesn't get jammed in the leg straps.

Wetsuits tend to become obsolete long before they wear out. After about 6 years I find that the new ones are heaps more comfortable and heaps warmer so I get a new one at the end of season sales.

I think in the old days guys using bindings used to sit on the sand and put their boards on then bum-scoot into the water before taking off. That might be a reason to wear boardies over a wettie.
